I wouldn't be doing it for a significant number of players as it could backfire horribly, but if it's the tipping point in convincing one of the best players at the club to stay then it's a good decision.

Agree, it should only be activated for priority signings, but it does maybe edge us into a section of the market from which we’ve been excluded.

Delighted he is staying. His performance at Tynecastle sums up what he is all about. he was brilliant that day.

Great to see a 2 year deal being offered. Will certainly help attract better quality players. Shouldn't be handing them out to everyone of course but for guys like Jacobs, absolutely. Make him captain.

Disappointed we haven't had a release list today right enough.  Jacobs is a great start but if Blues, Orsi, Muirhead follow, all the good feeling will be gone. If he offered McGinty a deal, dread to think who else has had one.

How could he have offered McGinty a deal if he wasn’t Manager at the time? Conversely that would mean he was also involved in not busting a gut to keep Salkend or Nesbitt, plus re-signing Jacobs. Remember he persuaded McGinn a Scott Fox to join when the need was desperate and his hands were otherwise tied behind his back!

Of course he was involved. He's been the manager the whole time and even though the contract extension was only announced today, he will have  been speaking to new and existing players for weeks IMO as well as the outgoing and incoming board.

Brian McLean had a good season. Played quite a few games for us so still think he has a bit left in the tank. His experience will be invaluable for the coming season.

Ledger next please!

I think he noticeably tailed off towards the end of the season despite having a better season overall than 19/20. With that in mind you'd hope we're not planning to have him start him every week, but then if we're handing out contracts to 36 year old centre backs as cover it would suggest we're not really going for the quality over quantity approach either.

Think that's a bit harsh. He played 33 games for us this season. I thought he was immense in the final game against Airdrie too.

Worried that this Montrose striker has Tony Wallaced us in the playoffs now after being excited about him signing. Step up to full time training might be good for him.

Think too many people getting excited after seeing a couple of goals from him in a couple of games.

'Looked good a few times I have seen him' was the basis for Hopkin signing fucking Omar.

Hopefully others follow that approach though as it will mean Muirhead gets a 5 year deal from a Premiership team.
