St.Mirren 2015/2016 thread

Recommended Posts

He is and Rae's comments the other week suggested the option on Webster has been taken up.

At the moment I reckon it's Naismith, Webster (possibly), Langfield, Mallan, Baird and Irvine then the kids like Morgan, McLear, Cuddihy and McAllister.

Rae saying in today's papers that 10-12 players are leaving so pretty much everyone out of contract must be getting told to do one!

Cuddihy is leaving apparently.

So the club now confirm it.

Sean Kelly
Jim Goodwin
Alan Gow
Steven Thompson
Stuart Carswell
Cameron Howieson
Scott Agnew
Barry Cuddihy
Jaison McGrath
Alex Cooper

Keith Watson has also left St Mirren having agreed a deal with Premiership side St Johnstone.

David Clarkson and Lawrence Shankland also return to their parent clubs after their loan spells with St Mirren.

Won't lose much sleep over any, but Sean Kelly is a bit of a strange one, he's really dropped off last 12 months in comparison to Naismith.

A confirmed list of the players leaving  http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=55088

Not really any surprises in there, Sean Kelly and Howieson are the only ones I would have possibly liked to have stayed but it was obvious they were going since neither has played in months.

A bit sad to see Watson go but it was always going to happen when St Johnstone came in for him, Naismith should do well next season anyway.

Happy that Gallagher isn't on the list and expect that he'll sign a new deal, he's been one of the better players this year and I think there's potential for him to be a really good player for us.

Hopefully we can get Shankland back next season as well, he'll definitely score goals at this level.

What was your view on Alex Cooper?

For such a highly rated youngster who went from us to Liverpool, it just hasn't happened yet for him. Has had horrendous luck with injuries though.

Pleased to see Rocco doing well and getting a new contract.

Cooper was fairly meh. Solid enough and an upgrade on McMullan but he never really beat his man or got enough decent balls in to be a left wing option going forward. If he stayed I wouldn't have grumbled, but Morgan should really start.

Cooper was average at best. Better than McMullan but if we are seriously looking for promotion that we have to aim higher than Cooper. Our U20 player Morgan always looked far better than McMullan or Cooper but had a few months out with injury. Cooper is no loss but not the worst player we have released. Take your pick from many of the others Agnew, Carswell etc etc

Not too fussed about any of those leaving. Would maybe have hept Kelly and think Howieson could be a decent player if used correctly. That aside - cheerio!

Congrats on the best season you've had in a generation. And the best you'll have for a very long time to come.

Open top taxi tour round Greenock for the fifth place trophy parade?

Did they manage to beat Saints yet? There's kids born in Greenock the last time they did that now have their own kids , its like a whole generation of dodgers that don't know what its like to beat the Buds :thumsup2
