Dundee United 2015/16 Season

Recommended Posts

Well I'll be renewing over the next week or so.

I'm going to renew anyway, and since I'm buying 3, the saving of £60 is significant enough for me to buy now rather than wait another 8 weeks.

I'd be seek if I'd prepaid though

Letheren has joined Blackpool, so that's both of our keeper bullets dodged.

I think this is one of my favourite posts in the whole thread.

Utd were linked with Scott Fox and Kyle Letheren but both signed elsewhere. This was seen as a good thing by DABs at the time.

If only they knew eh?!

We've already done this, our fond memories were shared a few weeks ago.

Latest accounts now available.

Gone from £600k in the red to over £3.3m in the black. This doesn’t take account of the projected £1.2m for Ciftci, Souttar and McGowan.

Creditors of £2.75m but £1.75m of this is improvement ‘grants’ that (I think) only becomes a genuine debt if the company goes into administration or liquidation.

All in all a pretty decent picture and putting the club on a far more solid footing that when ST took over.

Only negatives really are an ongoing trading loss; reduction in revenue due to inevitable relegation and the likelihood that we will not see more significant transfer fees in the foreseeable future.

What were the debts originally when ST took over?

What is the rough transfer income for the period since ST took over?

Why have the club needed almost £3m in loans?

Does it all add up?

We were £100million in debt. In that sense he's done a good job IMO.

I'm glad you are asking all these questions.

I would hate to be the sort of club who just ignored all this stuff, and ended up in the shit. Twice.

Ok then...

What were the debts originally when ST took over? No Idea

Why have the club needed almost £3m in loans? Who says it is all loans? Creditors could include any outstanding fees for players/staff in or out. As Granny says, £1.75m is effectively a grant (though hopefully the accounts department are still handling it as potential debt), and I'm pretty sure  the majority of the other £1m is the outstanding amount on the soft loans that paid the bank debt.

Does it all add up? Yes, but the working deficit is a worry.

You mean the sort of club that went from being £110k in the red in 2014 to £308k in the red in 2015?

Yeah I'd hate to be that sort of club too.

Why would the 'grants' only become debt if the club went into administration?

If they're not wanting their money back when effectively there is money to pay it - why would they claim it back when you're in the shit?

Perhaps in order to avoid a situation where another creditor could block a CVA?

That was the first reason that sprung to mind anyway.
