Biggest clubs (Stirling and Clyde)

Oh dear: I'm afraid you're only further embarrassing yourself with these wild delusions of adequacy. Since league reconsturction in the 1970s, which kicked the diddies out of the top flight for good:

Seasons in the top flight:

Morton 7; Clyde 0.

Seasons in the second tier:

Morton 26; Clyde 22

Seasons in the seaside leagues:

Morton 7; Clyde 18

Seasons in the fourth tier:

Morton 1; Clyde 6

League titles:

Morton 7; Clyde 4.

So to recap then: Morton have won more league titles and more league titles at higher levels than Clyde; have played in the Premier League which Clyde haven't, ever;, have spent fully 50% longer in the top two tiers of Scottish football - clearly their natural level - as opposed to Clyde who will make it at least 19 seasons in the seaside league before you can even think of slithering up for another spell as cannon-fodder.

Not even in doubt champ.

Genuine question. Talking history, how many major trophies have Morton won ?

I will happily answer that. 1 Scottish Cup in the early 20th century and only once were runners-up just after the war.

They have also won 10 league titles, their latest only a few weeks ago.

Whereas Clyde have won the Scottish cup 3 times, finished runners-up 3 times and have won 12 league titles.

Like Clyde, Morton have been Challenge Cup runners up and Morton were once League Cup Runners-up, something Clyde has not achieved.

On the whole, Clyde are more accustomed to silverware and medals over our history. Morton on the other hand, spectacular failure of a team who with their fan base should be in the premier league. A bunch of underachieving hicks living under the shadow of their fellow drug taking neighbours St Mirren...[/quoter

Fantastic post Gunther, so to simplify for our Greenockian friend, Clyde are and always will be far bigger than your diddy junkie team will and can ever hope to be.

I thought we only have 9 league titles? Or am I completely missing some?

The only teams to have won more league titles than Morton are the Old Firm (one now deceased). Not only have Clyde won fewer titles, but none of them have been above the level of the old, diddy Division Two, or the current, diddy Division Two level. So when it comes to title success as much as annual, 'playing at a credible level rather than stinking out a pub league' success, Morton comfortably surpass your nothing club.

Thanks for playing anyway.

And none of yours have even been in a league that matters. Morton is as much of a diddy club as the rest of us. Jog on now, mate :)

well I suppose there is one big club in this league

dont kid yourself. There are no big teams outside the Premiership (possible exception of Gers and Hibs). Even some of the teams in the top flight are not big.

Perhaps Clyde should merge with Newco/Sevco /etc. They're looking for a NOMAD and Clyde are the biggest bunch of nomads going about. This way they could claim to be the biggest team in Scotland and have a permament home

If Fife and Stirling Albion are classed as a big team that must mean Clyde are a massive team, everyone go's on about how much they hate us lol once we stroll this league everyone will be sayin "wish Clyde were in our league again" will never admit that
