The 2015/16 Hibernian F.C. Championship Thread

The lothian derby hibs-livi should be a belter, 4 of them too, exciting times looming down leith/livi, the rivalry increases, becoming one of the fiercest rivalries in recent times.

Hibs lost a cup final against them too.

Hummm, I might be wrong but I don't think that was money well spent for a week's training in the sun. Look forward to our meetings in the league next season.

As I said before, finishing second might not have been that much of a price over finishing third, as you sit waiting while the oppositon gets warmed up in the first tie.

Aye mate, that massive wait was what caused the defeat and not Hibs shitting it as per.

Contrary to popular belief, 'bottling' it in the big games was not what costs us this season. The reason we were never in the title race is because we dropped too many points in the "small" games, not in the big games against Rangers or Hearts. Hibs were Hearts' equals at least in the derbies this season and won 9 points against Rangers, but we could not keep up with that level of play against smaller opposition. Saying that Hibs' problem is succumbing under pressure in the big games is actually the exact opposite of what has gone wrong for us this year. More or less on the other hand, Hearts were not very impressive in their 'big games' (when comparing it to how they held up in the other games), but won the title by a mile through being rock solid in their consistency in regular league matches.

Of course we were well beaten last night in the most important game of the season, but despite them having been a total shitfest for certain spells this season (which still is only relative to what may be expected from a side with such a financial advantage), losing 2-0 away at Rangers still is not that spectacular a result. They still have far superior financial means than the rest of us and surely the relative superior quality is there; it was just a matter of them getting their shit together.

Your problem with that theory I'd it takes all Hearts/Hibs/Rangers games as big games. They weren't.

Hibs got off to such a catastrophic start that the last 3 derbies you played were from a position so far behind us they were of no real import. The only one which really had anything riding on it was the first, which you lost. I'm not saying we didn't want to win the others but the results had little impact on us so they were not particularly big games. Ditto us with Rangers, we won the 2 that mattered.

Whereas you beat Rangers in games when you were both already well behind us. The two that have had genuine importance on them to Hibs though, you've fucked it.

And you blew the semi final as well obviously.

The last derby might have been a friendly for Hearts, but it was big for Hibs, as a win was necessary in order to have a last shot at second. If you say that the last Hibs - Rangers in the league had importance (that is the other one you are referring to right?) than the last Hibs - Hearts had so as well.

As you say, we were very far behind you in the table. This was because we dropped points against the likes of Alloa, Dumbarton, and Raith Rovers. Hibs - Hearts games are bigger games than those fixture regardless of the positions of both teams. In those encounters, Hibs and Hearts appeared to be of equal quality, but in the table Hibs were miles behind Hearts. Therefore, Hibs primary problem over the entire season was consistency, not the alleged collapse as soon as there is some pressure on.

If your season ends this weekend, whose position would you rather be in, Falkirk's or Hibs'?

That's pure speculation. We have an important play-off match to concentrate on 8)

Regardless, Hibernian will always be better and more important than Falkirk and I would never rather be a Falkirk fan, no matter how many more big games we lose.

Hope that clears things up for you.

Delusions of grandeur cunto. Your club is a perpetual laughing stock.

Except we're not. It's a myth created by the media and everyone has latched on to it because their own pathetic clubs are no better. You'd have thought we'd lost to a part time side in a cup final or something last night going by the reaction on here

We've been saying that for three years, it is shite, but no as shite as this league.

No one gives a f**k what sevco fans have been saying or think about saying.

In English please - I know it's hard coming from that far West but please do try.

A tad ironic, considering you're named after one of the most unintelligible characters in cinema.

Hibs always fail. Hearts and Rangers are both in this league due to financial issues but Hibs are here purely due to being shit. There are far worse teams but we don't claim to be anything special.

The frustration with Hibs by fans of other teams on here suggests that this Hibs team was considered special enough to be able to beat Rangers though. I imagine that Queens was not considered a similar laughing stock for losing to them in the first round. :P

But being earnest: the last five Hibs years indeed have been abysmal, but the result from last night was not. If people on here genuine belief that losing to Rangers is a massive underachievement for this Hibs side they have created false ideas about the actual state of affairs in this league. Rangers can be considered to have been shit this season, as they finished third while having more financial means than all other teams combined, but they have only been shit in relation to what may be expected from a club with their financial advantage. I'd say they still were favorites to win this tie, beforehand and evidently even more so now. Losing 2-0 away to them is not a spectacular result whatsoever.

Ok, your team won the league so footballing issues are not why you are raging, you must just have some personal anger issues that you should probably get professional help for.

And you're named after one of the most unintelligible group of supporters in Scottish football

Actually, given Edinburgh's demographics, it's likely that Hearts have one of the most highly educated supports in the country.

Unlucky, champ. Back to the Lodge you go.
