Brechin City 2015/16 Season

I dont think anyone at Forfar will be "raging" with Darren leaving, he is 40 and has been applying for lots of manager's positions so it was always going to happen. Been a good, solid player for us, will be interesting to see if he thinks his legs can take another year.

Was purely tongue in cheek .........based on Dick's comments earlier at his frustrations about players delaying signing.

That said though, quite a few Farfar fans on here were hoping that he would sign again . They obviously think his legs would hold out.

Maybe not playing on the plastic every 2nd week might help his ageing joints ! ;)

Someone that's managed in league 1 and league 2 before and proven?

Name someone then? Allan Moore? He's managed in both. Interesting to know what you define as 'proven' as well. If it means successful then it's extremely likely a 'proven' manager would want to stay in League 1 and 2.

Look forward to your response.

It's his first management job, of course it's more risky than someone that's already got experience of doing it

It's basics

Ie Queens Park appointing Gus MacPherson wasn't really risky

Forfar appointing Campbell wasn't really risky

Ayr appointing McCall wasn't risky

Alloa appointing Lennon wasn't

Elgin appointing Weir wasn't

Us going for Sheerin for example was a bit risky, an untested recently retired player that hadn't managed a club before... Just like any job anywhere it's more risky appointing someone that's inexperienced in that role

Because your rationale is ludicrous. To say McCall was a 'less risky' appointment then Dods makes no sense at all.

Ah the old 'why u rattled' P&B patter.

But it does

Ian McCall has 18 years of experience managing football clubs and everything that comes with it, Dods has 0 weeks

That's why in my opinion it's a BIT risky

Settle

So is it experience in managing football clubs or being proven in League 1 and 2?

Would Jimmy Calderwood be a completely risk free appointment?

I'd say a bit of both

I think Calderwoods a fanny but you'd think any manager that's managed at the top level in Scotland would manage to deal with a part time job fairly easily

It makes perfect sense tbf, Mccall has proven himself in the past to be a perfectly adequate championship level manager, he's a far less risky appointment that someone who has never managed before.

Johnstone has won this division before, has managed at a higher level and has experienced what is required to run a full time club, that's a less risky appointment than Dods or Nish.

That's not to say that Dods or Nish might not work out better of course, but on the face of it it's less risky.

Seems like you're taking offence to the wording rather than the logic.

Phew thank f**k it wasn't Booth. I have a feeling this appointment will work out fine. As has been said a leader on the field and dead keen on his first stab at management . Be interesting to see if he takes a game himself this coming season. Player / manager role has worked well for us before , Ian Fleming and the late Ian Redford spring to mind. Be a interesting couple of weeks to see who he brings in . Welcome Darren, best of luck to you. Anyone got any info on season tickets ? Will they be on sale prior to the Aberdeen game ? ( shifts are a changing which will free up Saturday afternoons so thinking about taking one for the coming season). Thanks in advance.
