Stenhousemuir FC - The Warriors - The 2019/20 Thread

The midfield looks so stodgy, with the possible exception of Thomas Halleran. One of our (many) problems last season was the lack of creativity in the middle of the park and it doesn't appear to have been addresses yet. A 35-year-old clogger like Scott McLaughlin and Kieran Gibbons, who didn't really impress last season, just won't do.

I am looking forward to seeing McKernon. If he's as good when fit as the QP fans make out then he should be a good addition.

Heading along to EK tonight so hopefully a few trialist's catch the eye.

The trialists certainly did catch the eye. More in a laughing sense that being able to play football. The centre half and centre forward are two of the worst I've seen on a field at this level.

The French left back looked decent technically but positionally poor may be worth another look at a push.

Halleran looks like he has bulked up a bit and had a few excellent moments but apart from that what a shit show. Not one passage of decent play getting the ball down and playing.

An eye bleeding 90 minutes.

Agree about Halleran. If there were any positives then that was it.

Wouldn’t take any of the trialists. They were brutal. So bad. McMenamin has some serious work to do.

Where actually do we get the trialists from? Utter horse!! Kyle Johnston, jeeeez Thank Christ we have andy Munro and David marsh oh and Graeme Smith.

scott maglauchlin looked steady but there is surly something better out there , know we are missing likes of marsh and cook but got to be a few concerns with how our squad is currently looking

That was hard to watch. Can only really echo what has been said. The trialist's were by and large awful, the french LB was comfy on the ball & getting forward. The right winger had a couple of moments in the 2nd half but still not up to standard probably.

The goalie, well am sorry but our fears were realised, thank f**k Smith is here.

Massive gaps to fill.

Halleran looked good & Andy Munro will be a steady captain.

Russell Dingwall any good?

Not particularly. Russell Dingwall was one of Colin McMenamin's first signings, joining us on loan from Ross County in January. I don't know what his best quality is other than "energy". He's not particularly proficient on the ball, he's not a great tackler, nor is he much of a goal threat. He was a bit of a waste of a jersey and by the end of the season, supporters were openly questioning his inclusion in the starting XI.

Probably the most memorable thing he did was collect a red card for elbowing the Brechin City goalkeeper for no reason.

Not really, but better than the guff that was on show last night.

Thanks chieftains. Where did he play for you generally? Seen some suggestions he's a midfielder and others a striker. Seems to have done quite well for us in pre-season (as a holding midfielder I believe).

He's most certainly a central midfielder. He might do well if he's given a specific role within the team but we gave him free range to do whatever he wanted.

We've made two more signings!

Aidan McIlduff, a left-back who was at Berwick Rangers last season, and someone called Brandon Luke, who last played for Dunfermline Athletic. He can play in central midfield or on the right wing.

Meanwhile, young Kyle Johnson has left the club. I didn't even realise he was a Stenhousemuir player.

The squad is really coming together!

Absolutely buzzing to sign another twa jobbers. The battle for 7th with Stirling Albion is intensifying by the day.

Brandon Luke was on loan at both Annan and Cowden during the season 17-18. Just a young boy think he will be about 19 or 20 now.

Decent player technically but struggled with the physical aspects of league 2 football.
