Except Penicuik and Broxburn aren't juniors anymore, they both play their trade in the SENIOR East of Scotland premier emoji1531.png

Don't kid yourself. Its by name only to get a certificate to get into the lowland league. There are plenty junior clubs that have changed to senior status and haven't inproved that much if any.

Nobody said they have improved but what they have done is shown ambition to progress unlike your neighbor's in the west juniors.

Times are changing and not before time.

Well Penicuick destroyed Stenhousemuir from the word go. Stenhousemuir could have been down 3 or 4 before h/t easily.
Stenhousemuirs defending was to say the least abysmal, midfield was so slow to react to play any football, the boy cook just loves himself and when he makes a mistake just blames anyone bar himself. Your non existentStenhousemuir forward line was a laugh though, McGuigan wouldn't play in a top junior team. At least Broxburn have done the same to Cowdenbeath.
The Juniors seem not to be so horse shit after all.

Wouldn’t have mattered if they’d played well. You’d be giving the forwards pelters as usual.

They’re not Juniors.

How are they horse shit Broxburn won 3.0 today against Cowdenbeath so Cowdenbeath must be shit also.

Lets not kid ourselves on here, Cowdenbeath have  been riding their luck for years, they play a good game a season and that's the relegation playoff game that keeps them up for another season.

It would appear our performance yesterday was as eye gouging as this thread for the last couple of pages.

Can the gargoyles discussing junior fitbaw please take it elsewhere. There is a whole forum for you to discuss the rid hoat junior game.

The league forums should be password protected so we don't get the riff raff from over there and it's a suggestion I will be making to moderators.

Your trolling is as shite as your team but your salty salty tears are delicious.

Unlucky son, beaten by a Senior team - dinosaurs like you and your club will soon find out what its like to be non-league.

Lets take a moment to remember that Stenhousemuir FC have never been in the top half of the Scottish league structure and are a wee club which has NEVER won a Scottish league divisional title - which you have to admit is pretty fucking embarrassing when dross like Albion Rovers and Montrose have done so. Thankfully the likes of Penicuick will soon be replacing embarrassing moribund seat fillers like the "Warriors".

Enjoy the journey pal, its been a long time coming. The falls gonna kill you.

In the big scheme of things it's a historical accident whether a town like Larbert or Cowdenbeath has a league team while a similarly sized town like Broxburn or Penicuik doesn't. Now the door has been opened there are going to be some big changes in the years ahead.

All that comes to mind when I think about Stenny is watching an extremely rotund but surprisingly agile goalie called Brian Howie filling up most of the goalmouth back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and the bizarre wee stand you used to have. If/when you pass around the U-bend into the LL, you really won't be missed.

It isn't a historical accident at all - Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath had the vision and drive and ambition to get into and play in the SFL plus to maintain that status. They had to fight and struggle to gain that status in the first place - in Cowdenbeath's case twice. Broxburn had an SFL team and it went bust. No reason why Penicuik couldn't have grasped the same opportunities as a town many years ago.

Despite having won two SPFL titles in the last 13 years and having played in the second tier for 4 seasons in the present decade. That wasn't riding our luck for years - and those wins in relegations play offs well that isn't anything to do with luck.

It was a bit though, wasn't the collapse of the West Lothian clubs in the 1920's and early 30's partly due to the collapse of the shale oil industry in the area. If hypothetically speaking the coal mines in West Fife had been obliterated during that period would Cowdenbeath have survived to compete as they are today.

The 20s and early 30s was the time of general industrial depression and Cowdenbeath were far from insulated from the impact of that - they had a low point in the mid 30s. Lochgelly United were like Broxburn another club who succumbed in West Fife

As much as I love to read about the great cowdenbeath depression of the 1930s. Gawn F*ck off default_smile.png

Hope you’re taking the defeat okay Vimto, imagine spending all the millions you got from the Aberdeen cup tie just to get knocked out by Penicuik. No cup run this year, less money for next. The money’s running out and the trapdoors opening...

See you in the Lowland Diddy League soon honey x

Collapse of the shale oil industry did devastate football in Linlithgowshire - during the 1920s they had Armadale, Bathgate, Bo'ness and Broxburn in tier 2 of the Scottish League... Bo'ness actually won it and promotion to the top tier for 1927-28. Armadale beat Clyde, Hibs and Ayr to reach Scottish Cup Qf early in the decade and St Mirren to reach Last 16. Bo'ness reached Qfs twice, beating Hearts and Ayr. Broxburn beat Dundee Utd and Falkirk, reaching Qfs once and Last 16 once. Bathgate reached Last 16 twice and beat Falkirk.

Broxburn, Bathgate, Armadale and Bo'ness then all folded between by 1933 while only other clubs to quit between 1926 and WWII were Nithsdale, Arthurlie and Clydebank. They couldn't pay "gate guarantees" and SFL banned concession gates for unemployed. (Bo'ness tried to help the registered destitute by admitting them for free after 30mins... 'Shire objected ).

Armadale introduced greyhound racing to make ends meet but when SFL banned that they had to quit.

Nithsdale didn't quit
