Stenhousemuir FC - The Warriors - The 2023/24 Thread

McLaughlin is just another bang average player in the squad I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

It's indicative of how poor the squad is that he's played so much football this season. If we are being honest he should be nowhere near the starting team who want to challenge this season but as proven we are a mile off that hence he's playing every week.

I would agree with this 100 per cent.

Scott McLaughlin has been absolutely okay so far this season but he was brought into the team primarily for his coaching, maybe filling in the starting XI when required. When Colin McMenamin and Stuart Balmer were putting this team together they had a 4-4-2 formation in mind but such is the lack of quality in the middle of the park, we've had to play a 3-5-2 to compensate for it; with only David Marsh and Andy Munro in central defence, McLaughlin's had to fill in as the third centre-back every week.

Come to think of it, if we're going for a back four, he'd still get picked ahead of Aidan McIlduff.

Stuart Balmer has left the club (which was expected) and so too has Jamie McKernon (which wasn't). According to a short statement on the website, he asked to leave because of travelling commitments.

We've lost two central midfielders in the last week and suddenly look a little bit light there.

The club must have some signings lined up if we are allowing 2 centre midfielders to leave.
