ICTChris
This is something the Nats engaged in during the referendum also. Cringeworthy negativity about "broken Britain" and how awful a place it is. Which is of course nonsense and just comes over as incredibly childish. I agree with you that it's an awful selection, and really one that doesn't matter much. None of them are likely to win the next election - they are a stop gap til someone better comes along. Allan Johnston is the only actually credible leader Labour have missed out on. He would have been excellent. The fact he had no interest in doing the job just adds to that feeling really. Alan Johnson said following Labour's defeat that Ed Miliband started off talking about the 'squeezed middle' but ended up completely focused on the very rich and very poor. That isn't what wins elections - most people aren't very rich or very poor. If you constantly emphasise how terrible things are then people will stop listening to you, most people's experiences aren't of a horrible dreadful dump of a country. Gullane No 4
There was a bit about this £3 vote on Daily Politics today. Tories are supposedly signing up to vote for Corbyn. I saw that, it made me smile. I wonder how many will actually do it? £3 a head to destroy Labour......seems cheap.
bob the tank
Just to check here... are you claiming Labour will never again form the government of the UK? I actually am H_B and according to sources, labours own Kate Hoey pretty much thinks the same
Granny Danger
I actually am H_B and according to sources, labours own Kate Hoey pretty much thinks the same I have to say bob I think you're wrong. Labour will 'get better', people will forget how bad they were, people will start finding faults with the Tories. In rUK if a credible alternative emerged then it could have a negative impact on Labour but I don't see that happening. I could see the next Labour government being a minority or a coalition with the LibDems, who, sadly, will also bounce back n the future.

Government should represent all view points and labour must be around as part of that mix, but the lack of socialist policies and paucity of quality leadership contenders has coloured my judgement. You're probably correct GD but the scenario you put forward could well take three elections to happen in my opinion. Back to Thatcher's Britain in the meantime though. Arsenal till I die
The more Tories vote for Corbyn the better. This country needs a change of attitude, not just government. I want the Tories out but I don't want them back in either. Tony Blair done a great job softening the country up for them towards the end of his reign, taking us into Iraq and creating a consensus by his poor hating rhetoric. Crying in his nappy about poor people being able to afford to get drunk while him and his friends were getting smashed in the commons bar at the tax payers expense, then when his lead was narrowing he jumped overboard so he could make out he'd have won in 2010, which he wouldn't. mjw
Harriet Harman has started a little revolt with her budget comments to Andrew Neil this morning. Even Bothersall has broken ranks on Twitter.

jmothecat
I think Burnham will win on second preference votes. I've spoken to Kendall supporters, Cooper supporters and been spoken at by Corbyn supporters and it seems most are putting Burnham as their second preference. jmothecat
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33490959 Tactical voting in a Labour leadership contest. Christ. Stupid as it sounds I've flirted with the notion of voting Cooper for my CLP to lessen the chances of Corbyn getting another nomination. Don't like Yvette Cooper, she won't be getting my actual vote, but the more nominations Corbyn gets the worse it is for the reputation of the party. When it comes down to it I'll probably stick with Kendall as I'm the only person properly flying the Kendall flag in my CLP.

Blair was Thatcher's greatest achievement, and Kendall is further to the right than he was. Just join the Tories jmo, you'll probably fit in better there

Full of old fashion lefties who still call each other 'comrade' without the slightest hint of irony. I disagree with the Tories fundamentally on multiple issues. Wouldn't fit in well there at all. DeeTillEhDeh
The choice of candidates generally is shit awful - Kendall and Corbyn may be the two extremes on offer but they are also the two worst choices.
