A significant portion of the English population is reasonably well off. Most people are selfish.

Anyone who thinks Corbyn is a good choice for a party who wants to win an election should be shot.

Folk no longer work in steel works or down a mine. Old Labour is dead.

Someone I know (who's in his early twenties) was talking about how Labour needed a miner to be leader. It just seemed to me to represent how the left of the party view the world, they still see the working class as people who go down t'pit. I'm not really one to believe in the idea that being working class makes anyone any better or worse at leading the country than someone who went to Eton, but surely if you really want someone with 'real working class experience' it would be better to get a supermarket worker or a cleaner to do it. Surely far more representative of the modern day normal person than a coal miner.

I don't want some working class down t'pit Labour club man. I'm not Labour and I never will be.

To win an election in the UK( England) you have to win the middle classes. That means basically become Tories, which you blatantly are.

I have no problem with Labour becoming this way but don't pretend to be some sort of working class socialist and pretend you have any sort of Keir Hardy type principles.

Admit you're Tory lite and deal with it. It will only hasten independence and I simply can't wait

I'm conflicted between not wanting another Labour government and concern that Corbyn would just reinforce the militant SNP in Scotland to the point of a one party state, at least until the dummy's wake up to the con being done on them but by that time the damage done will be severe. These left wing parties are just beyond redundant and have no answers on a national level.

There is a disconnect in England though. Unionists frequently like to wave a wedge of data and shout "see, we are just the same as the people in Englamd, we want the same things!", and to a large extent, thats true.

However, despite what the data says, the people seem to prefer to vote for the crazy people. Look at the outrage over tuition fees, prescriptions etc. It seemingly hasnt even occured to most people that they could ask for the same things too. No, they line up and vote for the crazy people.

And to me, this is because the right wing dominate the media down there. They convince people as to what is "normal", and drag the agenda to the right, which seemingly isnt what people want.

Its different up here because our media has to be "Unionist", all about "pooling and sharing", and the referendum has made many people just give up on the news.

I really believe that if Labour put up a convincing case down south and presented themselves long term as a right wing, consistent, practical alternative who werent just diet evil, and then worked the media ceaselessly, they could shift the centre ground back. Just look at how the lib dems surged in popularity when they presented themselves as unashamedly left.

Fortunately, they will never do this. Their drones are focused only on trying to win the next election, without any long term or ideological cohesion. So diet Tory it is.

Apparently, 'private' polling among Labour MP's shows Corbyn ahead.

Reflected in the betting?

Corbyn will be coming up to 71 at the time of the next Election whereas Burnham will be 50.

Corbyn's stock seems to be falling, according to my facebook after the homepathy stuff came to light.

Can't imagine the majority of people giving a shit though, imo.

It's a pretty terrible selection nevertheless.

Imagine if they actually choose Yvette Cooper or Andy Burnham

Actually, seriously, what is wrong with Andy Burnham. Of the post 2010 labour stooges, he's been one of the only ones that has impressed me. His attitude to Scotland stinks, but he's English Labour, so thats alright. I always feel he comes across quite well. Maybe he should get behind Corbyn and continue to build his centre left credentials to then step up in 2020 after Corbyn has done the shovel work? I feel he is capable of actually communicating a belief and a vision and could give people something to vote FOR. But then, I never bought into the Miliband hate, Burnham is an upgrade though.

I'd never heard of Corbyn before last week, and the other two are nu-labour wannabe Tory drones.

What? Hadn't heard about this. Does he follow mystical mumbo-jumbo? It's pishh but not as bad as Tim Farron believing homosexuality is a sin.

Maybe they could unite their parties?

and yet you don't want the only left winger in the race???

jmo was born after 1997. He'd be a Tory if only there were a local branch. I assume daddy's big in oil.

A tweet from 2010 surfaced about three seconds after he went ahead on nominations. He didn't outright support it, but did make one of those wishy-washy statements about it having its place. Suffice to say this is a ratfuck plain and simple. Two of the other candidates don't want a socialised health system in the first place and Burnham isn't going to do anything his donors don't want him to.

Simply put, everyone on here should be behind Corbyn because the entire infrastructure that hates us also hates him. You have to be doing something right to attract that sort of unanimous antipathy from all the worst people.

No I wasn't. I'm no Tory, I just want Labour to pitch themselves towards the centre-ground as that's where the votes are. Much of what the Tories are doing fills me with dismay hence why I think it's so important to get a Labour government.
