Fife Cup

Todd is a better prospect than McCann at present, McCann has a fantastic physique which helps him against under 20s he can bully some defenders but he needs a bit fine tuning, he makes good runs though.

Was more impressive tonight than what Smith was.

Fife Football Association AGM Welcomes New Members

The AGM of the Fife Football Association was held last night at New Central Park, Kelty.  Office Bearers for season 2019/20 were confirmed as David Allan (Chairman), Stephen Mill (Vice-chairman) and Bob Mullen (Secretary/Treasurer).  The 2018/19 Fife Cup final between Dunfermline Athletic and East Fife is now expected to be played at East End Park early next season.

Kelty Hearts last year of course were the first new club to join the Fife Football Association in over 80 years.  At last night’s meeting though the membership increased from six to eight clubs with the admission of both Hill of Beath Hawthorn and Dundonald Bluebell to the Fife FA.  They have initially been awarded provisional membership pending formal confirmation that they have become SFA members – which is a prerequisite for admission to the Fife FA.  Thus Hill of Beath Hawthorn become the second club from the village to have been a member of the Fife Football Association following in the footsteps of Hearts of Beath who last participated in 1912/13 and indeed won the Fife Cup in both 1901 and 1903.  Dundonald Bluebell though are the very first club from the Bowhill area ever to have been members of the Fife Football Association.  Both new members were unanimously elected by the existing member clubs and we warmly welcome them to the Fife Football Association.

The draw for the 2019/20 Fife Cup competition was also made last night and it produced the following ties.

Cowdenbeath v Kelty Hearts

Burntisland Shipyard v Raith Rovers

Dunfermline Athletic v Hill of Beath Hawthorn

Dundonald Bluebell v East Fife

Was the first round draw done such that all ties are between one league team and one non-league, or was it an open draw as before and it's just coincidence that this is how it turned out?

Doesn't that clash with The Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup R2 for East Fife?

Easy Fife vs stirling that night. Either east fife move the 1st team game to the Wednesday(don’t know east Fife’s preference for midweek home games but typically these fall on the home sides preference without unusual circumstances), could play this game on the alternative night providing east fife can cope(we have done reserve games and first team matches back to back pre-season, tho usually resulting in a very week reserve squad)

Pars not involved in teacake cup until the next round.

P.s firmly in the side of let it die, 1 completed tournament in over 15 years as far as I’m aware. Next seasons tournament might create some interest with 2 new clubs but in hesitant of that with kelty joining not adding anything. Nobody wants to watch this and clubs have enough development games to play youngsters in.

Pity we couldnae let your side die, football in Fife would be a  far better place.
I know that you aren't meant to reply to trolling comments, and despite the decent amount of good stuff you post about Kelty (a team I hope do well and whose progress I have followed as a fellow Caveman myself) but I really don't see how that makes sense at all, even as a trolling exercise.

Well given last 2 tournaments were completed and the final for last season is expected to be played then your stats clearly aren't right.  Why not keep one of Scottish football's oldest competitions going especially with new teams joining?  Clubs are always arranging 'bounce matches' so ample opportunity to play these games.  Seems that every Cup competition now is being written off - Challenge Cup is a diddy cup, League Cup is a pre-season warm up, down In England even the FA Cup has been devalued.  The League is the be all and end all it seems.

18/19 at best competition to be complete 2 months into the following season, fixture currently clashes with first team match, let’s see when this actually happens.

17/18 - dafc vs Burntisland, match abandoned, never replayed- Burntisland given progress

16-17 east fife withdrew.

15-16 only 1 game played

14-15 not played

13-14 semi-finals not played

12-13 completion abandoned

11-12 Competition completed in full!
10-11 no competition
09-10 abandoned at semi-final stage
08-09 abandoned competition
07-08 competition completed.
06-07. Competition completed
05-06 competition completed
04-05 competition completed

So I’ve slightly overestimated how far back we have to go to find the competition being played in full on a regular basis. But 1 in 11 doesn’t exactly look good either.
