Wigtown & Bladnoch FC SOSFL Champions 2014/15

Recommended Posts

Big congratulations to Wigtown & Bladnoch FC for winning the South of Scotland league for season 2014/15. It looked for so long that Newton would be the ones to prevail but their recent crumble has handed the title to Wigtown and they must be credited for being so consistent over the course of the season.

Congratulations lads. Hope the party is a good one!

Unless there has been some points deduction or similar, Wigtown haven't won the league? Not yet anyway, and it's still fairly close?

They are 2pts clear with 4 games to play at home to Upper Annandale on Saturday / away to Creetown on Tuesday / away to Nithsdale on Saturday following / home to Dumfries YMCA on final day.

Newton Stewart have 3 games to play at Abbey Vale on Saturday / home to Fleet Star on Tuesday / no game on Saturday following / away to Crichton on final day.

Therefore if Newton won their last 3 games, they could win the league if Wigtown failed to take at least 8pts from their last 4 games.

Unlikely that will happen but it only requires Wigtown to have 1 loss and 1 draw.

Or is this some sort of wind-up / mind-games on the go and we're all being whooshed...

You got there in the end but fair play for showing your working.

Folk no doubt laugh at some of the idiot posters but ask Threave and Dalbeattie if they are laughing!

Re Wigtown it looks like they are a shoe in for the League as they have the strongest squad in the South and can not see them dropping points where as Newton Stewart are a bit threadbare at the moment with key players missing.

It has certainy been a good competition.Just a pity there was such a rush to finish the league as non of the two top clubs would (or probably want to)qualify for the Lowland League.

Although Wigtown will more than likely win the league I think that this is a serious lack of respect to the teams due to play Wigtown. Not Wigtowns fault may I add. It's the topic started here which may upset some people. Good luck anyway Wigtown, hope you boys do go on and be champions you deserve to be.
