Does Pyramid p/o mean end of SJFA ?

Recommended Posts

Not the one we hoped for back in the early 90`s, but the new `Pyramid` play offs on May 9 and 16 should certainly have a major impact on Junior football, which we also hoped would change much more than they have.

There are still too many who believe `old` Junior can survive as a standalone product/operation. Most junior clubs, to their credit, have accepted, however, that they needed to move to COMMUNITY CLUB format ... bringing all football into ONE CLUB. Most, however, have yet to accept that they MUST join the pyramid to make that work ... in five or ten years, how many kids will want to join a backward club with no forward options or ambitions ?

The dates above demonstrate how much SJFA has to change, currently playing an idiot game into mid-June instead of starting with the rest with the SFA season, late June or July 1. They CANNOT join the pyramid system unless top leagues are finished end of APRIL ...

All views most welcome ..

AM Soccer, a big youth club, similar to BSC, are to apply to Lowland League ... the process is happening, whether idiots like it or not. See someone let the dogs out again ... no brains ... no future.

Quote from a Fife follower (on Fife Football threads) " ... I coached for am for a few years and know the guys there. Top guys who want to create a pathway for youngsters to go right through the ranks and have the opportunity to go as high as they possibly can. Great thing to have in fife. Anyone who slaughters this needs their head checked. Its going to benefit a lot of youngsters in the surrounding area .. " I think that speaks for the vast, overwhelming, majority in football ... because it is common sense ... and happening.

Mick, if you didn't talk in riddles or code, and didn't insult everybody all the time, then maybe people would listen to you and consider the repetitive point you try to make.

Listen ... your head was deep in the sand until Glencairn got hit by a motorway ... and knocked a tiny bit of sense into what you were doing. You should maybe save your fire until you have actually DONE SOMETHING off your own bat ... is that good enough ?

And the unnecessary aggression continues. No wonder people don't take you seriously.

You have no idea what is being discussed in our committee room, or that of any other club. And as long as you keep up your attitude, nobody is going to give you the time of day.

I think he has a point. Teams built properly around their community are progressing faster than many junior teams with long histories.Junior teams wring hands about how hard it is to pay their way yet these guys know exactly how to attract funding.

Junior football can't agree on anything so it is little wonder others want to pass it by and do what is right for those they work with. The game is moribund at this level. Mick may be a bit off the wall but there was a time when the junior game was a great feeder to the very top of the game. Not now. If it stopped tomorrow hardly anyone would notice.

How do you express .... `kids clubs bi-pass juniors to higher level` .. in a reasonable way ? There was a perfectly reasonable first post on this thread. The aggression ... quite pointedly .. came from the usual attack dogs. I`m quite happy that everything I campaigned for is coming good (and several dogs on here have adopted such principles, at least in part), albeit at SFA snail pace. Your dilapidated, backward, stunted game is up pal .... time to go.

A good few years ago, I said things would look completely different to the juniors when they are maybe 7-8 divisions down the pecking order. Well, this summer, West and East could actually be SEVEN divisions down ... Tom Johnston knows this and is trying to make a poor attempt at a unified league to come late to the table. Instead, juniors should stand up to SFA .. and make complaints to the relevant authorities about their prevention of competition and progress. That will bring much quicker results. Whatever you think ... juniors will be joining the pyramid, sooner or later. Get used to it ..

Why would 99% of junior clubs want to be a part of a pyramid other than the one they are currently in?

Can you present a good case for central belt juniors clubs wanting to travel to Elgin or Stranraer on a wet Tuesday evening in February and to forego local rivalry for the chance to play in Peterhead, Annan or Montrose?

You have no idea what junior clubs are discussing and what direction they are going. You are trying to point score for something you have been spouting for years.

Who is going the support this AM Soccer? I attended a BSC game earlier this year and it was a very sparse crowd.

It's ok saying look how great the pyramid is but until we can have a proper look after 5/10 years then no one knows if it was worth it (including you)

Ps your agree with glensmad your aggression to other posters makes it hard to take you serious. If you make reasoned arguments then more posters will want to have a reasoned discussion with you.

Most of the teams in the ADL are utter dross, with no support, poor players and even worse facilities.

But strangely, it's taboo to criticise these teams as they are part of the "junior family" despite offering next to nothing to the overall junior game, whereas it's the order of the day to criticise Lowland League teams for daring to attempt to progress in the league structure.

Guys the overall picture with the SFA is get on board or you will be left behind. Look at some of the facilities appearing in the Lowland league such as Spartans and K Park at East Kilbride. These facilities were done with funding and some of them well into six figures. Unless you become a community club you will not get money to redevelop your ground unless you are on a site a developer wants. How many one team clubs are using rundown facilities and will have no hope of doing it up. There will be changes like it or not, Junior teams will disappear through lack of interest or money. Also to compare Broomhills crowds in their first season you have to be realistic. They will start to get better and when they start doing programmes with the younger kids on match day it will start to change. Let them walk before they can run.
