I don't know about you but I believe the Government should use public funds to protect jobs.

Really?  No qualification to that statement, no parameters, no issue about how much they should spend or the profitability of the company receiving the funds or even their record on tax avoidance?

Just so you know when the public sector underwrite the private sector it's our money they use.

Nancy Pelosi re-elected as minority House leader by a 2:1 margin.  Good to see the Democrats have got the message about the need for change.

2/3rds of all Democrat House members are from New York, California, and Illinois.

Tim Ryan, her challenger, used the term "dago red wine" today in an interview. Lol. He's from Mahoning County, Ohio. 2000-61% Democrat, 2004-63% D, 2008-62% D, 2012-63% D, 2016-49% D. This is the type of place that gave Trump the election. The Democrats had the option to vote in Ryan and make an immediate counterattack for these type of places. They went with San Francisco, and their Senate leader is from NYC. Republicans are applauding.

Illuminati confirmed.

Anyway... the Carrier plant in Indianapolis has said they will keep about 1000 jobs in the state that were previously planned to move to Mexico.

No tweets from Trump about the 1300 jobs that they are still relocating to Mexico though.

He has commented that the workers at the Carrier plant will build many air conditioning units in years to come.  Which is odd since it's a furnace.

I read somewhere that their holding company has billions worth of federal contracts, and that's why they shat it.

Here's the money quote from this article.

Quote

Hayes explained that the jobs were lower-wage and had high turnover, and the move was necessary to keep the plant competitive, according to the source. He said the plan would save the company $65 million a year.

1. Not all of the jobs moving were lower-wage.

2. Maybe it's better for the USA if a company's options in dealing with low-wage / high turnover jobs is to raise wages or deal with the problems of high turnover, and don't have the option to move Mexico where you can pay workers $3/hr and the workers will rarely leave that job. Higher pay for workers is something America needs now. And we also need the type of job that is high turnover for people who need short term work. Both are good things for workers.

Yep. Funny how Obama can aggressively threaten the federal contracts held by Peter Theil's company Palantir because only 44% of it's engineers are Asian (the Obama administration says it's that low due to racial discrimination), but he couldn't us the leverage of federal contracts to help your standard American. You only get noticed if you're part of the coalition of the fringes. No general help just based on being American.
