Dingwall/Highland things to do..

Recommended Posts

Take her to Wimpy, then have a wee stroll to Pefferside Park and have a go on the boats, then go for a wee swim in the River Peffrey and celebrate contracting Weel's disease with a few pints in the County Tavern. Then on your way home when it get's dark you should take her to the North Kessock layby and see it in all it's glory.

You can get the 27 bus from Dingwall to Inverness after the match though. Costs £4.70 single and leaves at five or half five.

.. which connects with a much earlier train, can't be arsed looking up when.

Have to... wait until the 19:19 train. The train station is 5 mins at most from the ground on foot.

Probably why they put a pub (the Mallard) in the train station. ;)

I had a look at the train but the cheapest fair I could see was about £60 return and we're both on a student budget, it'll only be around half that in fuel I think.

The Megabus isn't all that bad now you know. Worth checking out.

...and you get to see the delights of Maryburgh and Conon Bridge.

Aye, but you miss out on a major attraction: the UK's shortest railway platform at Beauly.

For the Glasgow train, that leaves Inverness at 17:30 (arr 20:45) otherwise the next and last train is at 20:15 (arr: 23:43)

They usually have enough buses waiting after the game, you should be fine.

If you had plenty of time, you could take the A82 then head out to Eileen Donan castle (via Invermoriston) then go up into Dingwall through the A832/A835. You're probably looking at a solid 6 hours in the car though, so it might not be viable.

Also, a stop for either a Deas or a Harry Gows in Dingwall is essential (I'd go for a Harry Gows Dream Ring tbh).

Urquhart Castle isn't that good but the view is nice. The visitor centre is rubbish. Alternatively you can head up the Foyers side of the Loch when you get to Fort Augustus (on B roads) and go to the Dores Inn for food. You get a very good view down the Loch from just outside it.

Does Harry go about singing show tunes?

Renatos for a deep fried creme egg

(yes its true http://www.ross-shirejournal.co.uk/News/Dingwall-chippie-customers-are-egg-static-about-deep-fried-Easter-treat-21032014.htm)

or taken from the dingwall website

Dingwall boasts a modern fully equipped leisure centre with a swimming pool where you can catch cholera, fatness facilities and wide range of special interest classes such as dogging, needle work and assault. Furthermore there are tennis courts located close to the park where you can finger that special someone. Why not take a leisurely stroll to the water-side picnic area located at the end of Ferry Road where there is a notorious fight club for the homeless, with wonderful views of the Filth that is the firth and of the mountains to the North and West – an ideal spot for people of all ages to pass a pleasant morning or afternoon dogging or pillaging. For those looking for something a little more energetic there is also a skateboard park and all weather pitch at the grounds of Ross County Football club available to all locals to enjoy, outsiders not welcome. And don’t forget the great selection of specialty shops for items such as, 6 fingered gloves, urine samples and weapons.
