Nicky Walker suspension (SJFA)

Recommended Posts

Simple solution,if ur sent off in a local game, league or local cups, then the suspension is served at local level, sent off in Scottish cup, suspension in the next Scottish tie, look at the Dundee Utd guy, booked in the league cup semi, now misses the final

Someone suggested we should have appealed the Red card. That comes with it's pitfalls in that it could have been deemed frivolous and an extra game added then there would be no argument. However, this whole sorry mess needs to be addressed not just for United's sake but for clarity in the future. To say that similar situations have arisen in the past beggars belief that it's not in the disciplinary/cup rules. Another example of a disjointed organisation run in an unprofessional manner especially when it has a salaried Secretary in charge .

If Nicky does get to play, he'd better perform like Ronaldo after all this :)

Is that the same Ronaldo who got a 2 game ban, sent off for kicking an opponent just after he punched a guy and went unpunished ????????

It would've been easier if Nicky had chucked his boot at the lino, would just have been a yellow card and this debate wouldn't be necessary ????

The funny thing is,I don't think the pitch at Hurlford would suit Nicky's game,it will likely be a tight heavy pitch,Nicky's game is more suited to wide open pitches

Although it is not much better with Lowland League teams. We have competition pools where matches are categorized across the various cup and league competitions. We had a situation last season against Stirling Uni Where one player was sent off from each team in a cup game. Due to a refereeing mistake the match had to be replayed (he went straight to penalties rather than play extra-time). Our player was suspended for the game while the Stirling player was eligible. The reason was that Stirling have a reserve side who subsequently played a match in the same competition pool as the cup match. Their player who was red carded played for the first team on the same day as his suspension was being served. We were not amused to say the least.

Aye that was due to the fact that (like the Juniors by the sound of it) all EOS league & cup suspensions were served in a 'competition group', and not in the specific competition in which the suspension occurred, but the SFA had continued with this even though LL had started... Stirling Uni's 2nds played an EOS League game the weekend after, so his suspension was 'served' against that while he played a LL game.

Slightly different situation to this in 2 respects, though:

(1) there was no ambiguity about it in the rules;

(2) the anomaly was apparently rectified for this season

Nicky walker has definitely served his 2 game ban and should be available to face hurlford on 7th feb. The sjfa are definitely ready for a clear out and be replaced with people who really care about junior football. Shame on the sjfa for the debacle over this 2 match ban. GET IT SORTED SJFA.

think they have been

A well respected figure in the Junior game. However, no doubt his advice will have been taken on board but it's all down to what the General Factotum TJ wants.

Surely if there is a clear rule in the book that refers to the situation then what's the issue?

If there isn't a clear rule then it would be in the first instance down to Tom Johnstone for an interpretation which would be open to scrutiny of an appeal.

Has anyone actually approached the Scottish from the club to get a definitive answer on this matter or challenged the decision? Going to Davy Roy albeit a good source of information is merely gaining an opinion.

Of course it's only going to be an opinion but an experienced one. The comments (not an official one) on Saturday regarding this would suggest that Mr Johnstone is behind the suspension for the Hurlford cup tie. I would imagine that the Club would go through the due process of challenging his decision.

They should of called Boness and said he is free too play any league or local cup ties if these are rearranged if the Scottish tie was cancelled. Everyone knew they had a provisional fixture.

Simple email or call to Boness secretary on Friday would of solved this mess and im sure Boness would of accepted this.

The onus is always on the club to make sure their players are eligible to play.
