The seats are uncovered and that bit of the ground is overgrown and unused now which is a shame.

Don't know what the current story is with Lochburn, last I heard it was getting sold off for houses and Maryhill were looking to share somewhere else.

Where do you get your information from sepp blatter

From speaking to the guys at Maryhill funnily enough.

That was the main reason nothing was getting done on the disused parts of the ground.

The guy who owned the ground Freddie Duda has died that's why I said I don't know what the story is now!

Sounds like whoever told you that had only bits of the info which were a few years out of date. Obviously I'm not going to go into detail here regarding previous plans to relocate which didn't come to pass and are now the best part of a decade old - suffice to say we're staying at Lochburn in the medium term at least.

There was some subsidence at the raised enclosure during that really bad winter about four years ago which necessitated closing that bit and the seated stand which you have to pass the enclosure to get to while it was rectified. It's now been sorted, but those areas remain closed off because in practice very few people ever used them, so anything other than basic maintenance isn't a huge priority. Neither us or BSC regularly attract crowds which would require them anyway; in the third tier of the Juniors we average crowds of 100-120 which can comfortably be accommodated in the three sides that are open.

Glad to hear it.

As I`ve said previously I like Lochburn its a cracking venue for non-league football with its raised up viewing terrace and decent cover.

Didn't manage to see a BSC match, but saw Maryhill beat Blantyre at the end of the season there.

Hopefully the pitch problems will get sorted.

With ourselves and Yoker sharing the costs the pitch at Holm Park is miles better now.

CSS obtained their licence.

Congratulations to Strollers.

Can see them challenging this season under the new bigger league. Could be a threat to actually have a team capable of being promoted playing in the league below.

Would be great if LTHV and Tynie got saughton and the other paperwork up to scratch to make a real go of promotion. Leith seem so far away unless they are involved in the remodelling of meadowbank discussion- although even then they would have a bit of a wait.

Not good news for threave.

There's a 15 team odd number yet everyone knows strollers were all but a stick on for a licence.

Wi a bit common sense strollers could've been team 16 or whatever it took on the fixture list and saved teams a free week ??

Well done the strollers by way I'm still looking for reasons behind the name of new park.

Anyone enlighten me ?

Might be one of those games like 'what's your porn star name'. What's your ground name? 'You take the first name of your managers granny and the second name of your chairmens first teacher' type thing.....

Any news on VoL? I think they were back up yesterday, hopefully all went well.

Peeblesshire News says they haven't got the licence and are returning next month. Says the problem is the enclosure and as part of the work they are turning it into a seated stand - incidentally that will mean every LL ground has one, IIRC.

Vale aim to stay in the Lowland League

Published: 30 Jul 2015 17:30

BOSSES at Hampden will decide on the future of Vale of Leithen at a special meeting next month following problems with crowd capacity at Victoria Park.

The Innerleithen side are the only club in the Lowland League yet to gain the required SFA Entry Level Licence.

Significant improvements have been made around the ground in recent months to comply with the Licence. But the necessary enclosure capacity of 100 has not been met.

Vale general manager Mark Lamb told us: “We had everything else ticked of and expected the capacity to easily be 100.

“Scottish Borders Council’s building control people thought otherwise and we now have additional work to do to the enclosure.

“We have been up front all along with the SFA and they have been very supportive. We are confident this last part of the jigsaw will be in place before we go back to Hampden next month.”

Vale have purchased more than 100 seats from Whitehill welfare which will be fitted into the enclosure.

But they will also have to install steel barriers to satisfy the local authority.

Vale’s first home game of the 2015/16 Lowland League will be next Wednesday when they welcome neighbours Selkirk.

To tie up another 'loose end', according to the Caledonian AFL site Glasgow Uni have indeed moved to the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie.

.

Not sure BSCs ground has a covered seated stand? Thought it had seats but they were in the open and not safe to use at the moment. Might have been some upgrades since I was last there a couple of seasons ago though.

Lochburn Park certainly has a seated stand. It is uncovered. No idea if it's been condemned.
