I.e they are not completely separate football clubs meaning it could maybe make things like finances hard to separate from the rest of the organisation. Just a thought. No great loss, IMO - said from the start they shouldn't have been in & no surprise they've been unable to get their act together considering some of the off field antics. They've nothing left to lose in a set up where the rich man will remain at his house & the poor man at his gate, at least in the LL there's the prospect of regular three figure gates & perhaps more with a promising Scottish Cup draw against some top club having to restart in the bottom tier after undergoing a liquidation event (not an unlikely occurence anymore)! Speaking of Ashfield (where BSC were originally going to bunk in), with the news they will now be rent free & Saracans Park being earmarked for improvements by the new owners, they could be a side bet to chuck their hands in the ring too, doing even worse than Benburb are doing now. tamthebam Posted January 11, 2015 Share Posted January 11, 2015 BSC Glasgow were a bit of a left field applicant last year as perhaps were Edin Uni (although Edin Uni Sports Association don't seem short of cash and now have a very nice ground) so it maybe that there are clubs us Easterners haven't heard of are thinking of applying. Are there any ambitious youth/amateur teams out west? On this side of the country Easthouses Lily might have a shot at applying- they've done a lot of work to their ground and tried putting in new dressing rooms (which were vandalised by anti-social scum elements unfortunately). It looks like Barry Ferguson is doing his best to add Clyde to the mix for next season and that would probably be the quickest way to a strong presence in the Glasgow area. Beyond the other names mentioned, such as Rossvale, when it comes to ambitious youth/amateur clubs, Cumbernauld Colts are probably worth a mention, because they hold the lease on Broadwood and have talked about starting an adult level team in the recent past. Berwickshire is 1 of only 5 mainland counties without a club in the "professional game" levels, and has little rugby presence to speak of. (Other 4 being neighbouring Roxburghshire; the well-surrounded Kincardine and Kinross; and remote Argyllshire). WaffenThinMint Posted January 14, 2015 Share Posted January 14, 2015 Duns would be preferable perhaps from having a bit more of a population base to work from (& being the home of the Duns Ba' game there's some historical links to the earliest incantations of football, so an angle of hype for the LL), but really it's more clubs from Glasgow & surrounding areas they need to draw in more overall interest, rather than having a Berwickshire representative for the sake of it.
