Airdrie were superb defensively. We just didn't have the capability or players to break them down.

We now urgently need two strikers. McManus has gone and Barrowman just doesn't have goals in him at all.

We also need experience in the team as the young players are playing without confidence.

Duffy uses another one of his lives up. He is now under severe pressure to bring in at least 4 players who can do a job for us, not just warm the bench.

We threw everything at Airdrie after we lost the goal and you could see it wasn't going to happen.

Not good enough

No change from game one then.

Seems strange that Grant Adam is happy to lurch from one club to another on trial periods rather than take a contract somewhere, maybe it's more financially rewarding to be a readily available stopgap?

Probably because he isn't good enough to get a game, anywhere. He was f*cking hopeless today.

Awful. Just awful. I said I wasn't going back after the last home game but ended up there today. That won't happen again as long as Jim Duffy is in that job.

The most worrying aspect was looking at the bench today. A young lad untested, two players who are on the way out, a very young goalkeeper, a defender who Duffy plays as a midfielder and Rickie Lamie. Unbelievable that he sticks by Lamie for ages then as soon as he gives him a contract extension drops him to the bench.

Mark Russell was easily our best player today and should keep the left back spot. The goal came from his side but it was McKee who lost it in a stupid position and then Milo should've covered for Russell who was dragged inside but instead just stood absolutely still.

They can all fck off. There's not 1 player I'd be disappointed to lose.

Russell was a major culprit for the goal, among others, and had a poor game.

Unfortunately Morton youth setup's rose generally earns a free pass, which bizarrely turns him into a hot prospect as the season progresses, rather than a raw and so far unconvincing option.

He was poor defensively, but I thought going forward he was brilliant today, work on his defensive side of the game and he'll turn out a decent player.

First game in a while and not much has changed from earlier in the season. We didn't start playing until 30 mins into the game but even at that we really didn't look like scoring although we had some half chances. Into the second half and Airdrie score while we were still sleeping. Rest of the game we had some decent chances but Airdrie defended well and were very well organised. The big no.9 up front had a good game and gave our defence a torrid time.

Mark Russell was without a doubt our best player today but he got absolutely no protection from mcluskey at all. Pepper is wasted on the other side and really needs to move into the centre of midfield in place of Joe McKee who tries to hold onto the ball for far too long and never does the simple thing. A ball winning midfielder coming in would allow tam oware to go to his natural position of centre back in place of crighton and Miller should get a chance in place of milojevic. Up top we depend far too much on McManus and I noticed today he is very greedy. Big barrowman just does not look like he has goals in him just now.

To sum up. Duffy needs to sign a right midfielder, a ball winning centre mid and a striker if we are to have any hope of promotion. Also well done to Airdrie today. Deserved 3 points.

Brilliant is an exaggeration. He had more effective runs than other Morton players, a low benchmark, yet if you help to chuck a goal in from a basic clearance at left-back, it doesn't actually compensate, as is shown in the final score.

Perhaps he can develop a defensive game but there is absolutely no guarantee that he will, and if there's a level where ropey defensive inability ought to be hidden it is the seaside leagues, not the Championship. Even Peter Weatherson could stroll through most games defending at this level, and couldn't make the step up.

Russell should never be played as a full-back, that much has been clear since his first time there at Dumbarton. What happened to Crawford, Is he away back? Sums Duffy up that I don't think Crawford's ever played centre mid - a position which was shown again today to be hugely problematic. O'Ware isn't a centre mid and should easily keep Crighton or Milojevic out of the team. Barrowman's been useless for a while and doesn't seem keen on stopping. Even if we did have the players, to make only one substitution when losing 1-0 at home is pretty poor management. Oh well. Duffy out.

Someone needs to explain to me now Airdrie can lose Buchanan and their other centre half to Morton and still defend better than the teams they went to for full time training and more wages?

Bollan deserves great credit, would love to see him at the Pars instead of diddies like Potter and McCann.

They play to their strengths week in, week out and get the best out of their players.

Completely the opposite to the Pars and Morton.

Major reality check for the two full time sides this season.

I agree he could've done better for the goal but Jamie mcluskey was near the half way line when the ball was put into the box for the goal.

Russell was by far our best player today. Completely destroyed Airdrie's right back the whole game. He's just been played out of position, he clearly isn't a defender and would be much better in left midfield.
