Can Aberdeen win the league without beating Celtic?

I don't think so.

Take the Dons v Celtic games out of the equation, and the points totals are.

Aberdeen 37

Celtic 33

If we had won even one of the games v Celtic, we'd be 4 points clear.

So no.

To have a chance we have to beat them next time, or the time after. Or both.

Problem is even if we do beat rasellik twice, too many other teams will take a points off of us whilst capitulating to the arsecheek.

Shame really, could you just imagine neither bigots winning their respective league, and the comedy relief replacement club failing to get promoted?

Arma-fucking-geddon indeed! :P

To do that we'd need a team that was capable of consistently steamrolling everyone other than Celtic, which we don't have. The defeat at Pittodrie to Celtic looks massive now though. We beat ourselves that day.

The two Celtic games are the real reason you are not already top of the league.

IMO, Aberdeen can win the league if they maintain a 75% win rate and beat Celtic at parkhead on 1st March.

That's the sunday after Celtic's trip to Milan.

Previous league winners have gone through the season with more than 4 losses, so the difficulty is not Aberdeen winning without beating Celtic, it's winning without losing to their other nearest rivals. While Celtic might drop points here and there they will tend to win the games that matter. So, for example beating Dundee United or Aberdeen, who in turn will then go on to take points off each other. It's why the duopoly of the so called "old firm" managed to survive for so long.

Edit; btw, I've voted that they will come a close second, but that is not mutually exclusive with option #2 of them being able to win the league by retaining form and not beating Celtic.
