Should perhaps have looked. They say he was named in a saturday broadsheet. The Herald?

Yes the piece should not have been printed but it's not a hatchet job on the fella. Rather the reverse in fact.

Certainly a big mistake to name the guy and they should be hauled over the coals for doing so, but it least it has blown some of the conspiracy theories out the window.

And the police said they were withholding the information

You keep going on about this, it's just standard procedure. The police do their investigation and hand over the evidence to the Crown, who decide whether any action is required. If they released information prematurely it could prejudice any future proceedings.

You would have thought he would have wanted to publically appologise for what happened. Seems not.

We don't know if he has anything to apologise for, and from what we've heard so far, he hasn't. He might well have passed a message to the families who lost people though, no need for him to broadcast it.

Oh somebody else was in the driving seat, sorry didn't know that.

He can't exactly come out and publicly apologise for something that caused such upset and destruction to so many lives when it wasn't his fault. He is probably the most lonely and distressed person in the country at this moment in time and will never get over what happened but he has nothing to apologise for as it wasn't his fault

Agree with this 100%

Guy will be haunted by this for rest of his life.

You have to wonder about some people's attitude on here :-/

Publicly apologise for what? Blacking out at the wheel despite having driven trucks & buses for years, passed umpteen routine medicals (if a certain Sunday broadsheet is telling the truth), done nothing wrong except take unexpectedly ill at the worst possible moment?

With all the best will in the world & precautions, tragedies still happen, & sometimes there is no one to "blame" but sheer bad luck.
