12 months notice.

At least we know we've got 12 more months of this. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

I would be very surprised if he's there for the full notice period. Even assuming the club is still there, which is by no means guaranteed.

Can they afford to bring in a proper manager? Especially since McCoist's salary will almost be doubling, if the figure of £400k is to be believed.

It could end up being a player-manager scenario.

750k - that should have been the wages budget for the 1st team squad for the years they were in the bottom 2 divisions.

Assuming you mean for both years combined, most of us could have FM'ed our way to the second tier with a young, hungry squad* ready to mount a serious charge for the play offs.

But then again, few of us would have been willing to spout the amount of shite he has in order to keep the Horde and their money onside.

*With a couple of grizzled veterans, natch.

no surprise there. there was no way he was going to remain it probably wouldn't be fair on him or the squad.

the situation at the club had gone too far and he was getting little support from the leadership and the supporters had turned against him. he probably lasted longer than most managers would having to put up all that and had tried to keep the football side of the club separate from the mess behind the scenes, but this season it all started to get on top of him.

he looked increasingly drained and unwell of late, so probably for the good of his own health he called it a day. be good for him if he took a break and spend more time with his family and recharge.

take it easy ally

Aye, when it suited him.

Bizarre - when does anyone ever get a near 100% salary increase when working their notice ?

12 months notice

Payrise to £750,000

Sevco, what a shambles

Isn't this him just going back to his original (pre-cuts) salary? Basically "I'm off and I'm taking what's mine".

Yes exactly, it's pretty dirty of the club to call this a "pay rise" - when he took a pay cut the other year he presumably did so on the basis the contract would technically stay as it was. Now he's evidently fed up with them and not playing ball any more. It's still only the same original contract the club were daft enough to give him.

So that's 750,000 for Ally.

I assume his mates in the coaching staff are also likely to go as well. They are reputed to also be earning somewhat above the average wage for a coaching team in the Scottish Championship.

More than 1M to clear out the lot of them?

Then they are going to have to tempt a new management team to join. That won't be easy in the current situation with the whole of the first team up for sale in January. The incoming manager is going to need a decent basic wage, because he won't see his bonuses all that often!

1. His notice period could well be longer than many managers' tenure. Imagine those terms being in a contact you didn't even read before signing!

2. "Keep the football side separate"? Aye, except for demanding names or getting out the dog whistle when required.

3. " Took a break "! Before his next managerial job? (Insert insane number of ROFL smilies)

Yep - both years combined, given the amount of cash the new Rangers had when the started in Div 3 and the number of people coming through the gates it's fair to assume they could have a decent young full time squad so they could have easily had a squad still paying ridiculous money in the bottom tier but affordable, a squad of about 25 paying 15k a year for a couple of years - chuck in some win bonuses as well - even double it and you could have some young players making a fairly decent wage doing something they love.

Instead they blew countless millions on pish.

Keeping the football side separate sounds vaguely familiar. That money was just resting in the holding company account.
