Guest Bob Mahelp
That's a very disturbing clip, and very disturbed person. It's casual, ignorant racism. Straight out of the mouths of the far-right. Given that this programme is pre-recorded, should be the BBC be advertising her point of view ?
Chapelhall chap
This was perhaps the only dramatic bit of telly in a fairly dull QT. The panel and audience seemed stunned by her diatribe: the fact that she got the population figure of about 66 million wrong ,would not matter to many of an anti immigrant rhetoric. As I understand the recent figures her use of England was way out from 54million , but she probably thinks that the UK is England. ( Like so many others) Her use of the "flooding" over here reminded me of the Rochdale "just a bigoted woman" who said they were all flocking over here but Broonie thought she was swearing at him. It was interesting that it was only the Novara woman who challenged her. The notion that the UK is full up was one I recollect being used in the 1960s by both Conservative and Labour politicians. It never really went away and strengthened with the Thatcher "swamp" comment around the time of the 1980 Nationality Act. The woman beside her also seemed to think the EU prevented the dredging of rivers, but I think she might have meant the EA ( Environment Agency) and the Carol Malone clone praised her for blaming the EU. Portillo's purple outfit gave away his UKIP credentials? Edited February 21, 2020 by Chapelhall chap spelling error

The sensible thing to do of course is not plough river beds but slow down water reaching rivers but that involves planting trees which a variety of people the UK keeps voting into power don't want to do. Thanks for clarifying that for me and I apologise to that audience member. Your point about trees is well made.

The worrying thing about this is whether the BBC is setting the agenda or "just" tapping into the direction of mood of large portions of the population in England. Either way, that is a very dangerous rant to be broadcast. But as doulikefish fish says The BBC were almost completely responsible for bringing the views of Farage and UKIP into the mainstream. 10 years ago it was pretty much impossible to imagine that the likes of Farage could be accepted than anything other than a far-right extremist, but 100 Question Time appearances later the views of Farage are reflected in our PM and government. The views of this woman are being ridiculed, but actually they're nothing more than hate speech dressed up in a pink sweater and blonde hair-do. It's horrific that this woman went unchallenged, and it's equally horrific that the BBC are treating her borderline racism as somehow being a 'valid point of view that deserves publicity'. What the f**k is this country coming to ?
The Golden God
This is even more ridiculous, presented with actual facts and just decides to shout that they're "rubbish"
carpetmonster
Given that this programme is pre-recorded, should be the BBC be advertising her point of view ? If it wants to still exist in a couple of years time it's gonna have to.

What the f**k is this country coming to ? Absolutely. I can remember Enoch Powell. Some people might say he was a good debater but it was regarded as eccentric to agree with him on anything. "Steady on. You are beginning to sound a bit like old Enoch." If the same had been done to Farage he would have disappeared by now.
dirty dingus
The wonderfully stupid facebook page Britain Bites Back (Tegan delete this FFS) saying the balloon was invited and compensated for appearing. They have also accidently published the right wing booker for QT Pedley Fullers telephone number.
