wulliamwallace Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Celtic boss Ronny Deila says Norways youngster Martin Odegaard could still end up at Celtic. 15 year old Norwegian international Odegaard is being watched by top clubs across europe including Barca, real madrid and liverpool but Deila reckons he could still end up at Celtic for at least a few years.Deila was his mentor at Stromgodset and gave him his break into football, he is reported to be best friends with Martins father and is very close to his family.Deila says he could go to any big club but may have to wait to get first team football, we could give him that chance he has plenty of time to make millions and become a top footballer.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smi8jvNixL8 The kid looks like he has potential to be a class act but will Celtic get him and will he get a game ? The bit in bold is what I like about Ronny Deila. If that was Neil Lennon he would have claimed Celtic were one of the best in the world Deila seems a lot more level headed and down to earth. Wilky1878 Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Why on earth would any player sign for Celtic if they are being watched by Real Madrid, Barca etc? Some more first team football? Get some European games under his belt before making another move? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dee Man Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Why on earth would any player sign for Celtic if they are being watched by Real Madrid, Barca etc? Because Celtic are more than just a club plus they have TGFITW. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
wulliamwallace Posted December 10, 2014 Author Share Posted December 10, 2014 Deila has more or less said he will give him first team football until he learns his trade and that there is no doubt he will eventually go to one of the worlds "big clubs".He could be a very exciting player to have in Scotland and there could be a sell on clause for Celtic & Stromgodset. gannonball Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Yeah, I'm sure he would turn down world class coaching at Real Madrid to train alongside Efe Ambrose Hes a young lad, he knows our manager well and has payed with one of our players. For a 15/16 year old some continuity could could be good which his adviors/family may recommend to him. Its not totally out the question. He may only potentially come for a year then f*ck off else where. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
yoda Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Obligatory YouTube video? Check. Obligatory reference about "big clubs" watching this wonderkid? Check. He'll end up at Ajax or someone like that. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Audaces Fortuna Juvat Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 This was in quite a few of the weekend papers, and Ajax are widely regarded as favourites. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~ Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 If he's good enough to go to one of the worlds "big clubs" then he won't sign for Celtic. Sorry champ. He could take advice from Danny Wilson. Went from first team football at Rangers, playing in the Champions league, winning caps for Scotland to Liverpool reserve, now playing in the Championship. He's got plenty of time to progress again, but still moving to one of the major european at that age isn't always necessary the best move for him career wise. Totally agree with this not the only time a wonderkid has took the step up far to early. A gradual build up with first team football most of the time must be a preferred option to being a reserve player for a big team. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Casual Bystander Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Right, there is not a snowball's chance in hell Odegaard is coming to Scotland. He looks the sort of player that will move for 10s of millions despite him having so little experience. This is nothing against Celtic and all about the kid's potential. Audaces Fortuna Juvat Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Ajax's track record of developing players, not to mention their links with Sandiwegia, suggest to me that he will not be wearing the hoops. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Granny Danger Posted December 10, 2014 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Delia, like his predecessor, knows want the Celtic fans want to hear. They seem incapable of seeing the false flattery for what it is. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
