Bully Wee vs Wee Rovers

Recommended Posts

After our Second Round cup games in October, 10-man Rovers and 2-penalty Clyde shared the points in a 9-card thriller in our first meeting of the season. This weekend, fresh from our Fourth Round tie (did Clyde fans know there was a fourth round?), it's off to Scottish football's sofa-hoppers' current abode in the middle of nowhere for leg 2 of our quadrilogy.

We didn't have a great time at Broadwood last season: in one game we threw away a 2 goal lead and the other was a disaster during a stinking run of away form. That was when Clyde, after a few bad years, were chasing a dream of promotion, and we had resigned ourselves to the stench of mediocrity for another season. There's been a bit of a role reversal between our clubs since then.

The Vers haven't lost a Saturday game in what's known in football as "pure ages"- you'd have to go back to September to recall us having a bad weekend. The recent midweek defeats have been atypical of standard Rovers form - with 3 defeats out of 3, it's clear Tuesday is not our day - but the mistakes are out the system and the Winter fixture pile-up, which Arbroath are set to suffer, won't be as hard on us. It's all about the league for Albion Rovers.

Clyde have won 1 home game so far, and that was against Elgin. Are the BW fans (seriously) looking for anything from this game, indeed from this season, or is it Bazza Out time already?

Why would Arbroath specifically be set for a winter fixture pile up? there will be games on at Gayfield when the rest of the country will have ground to a halt due to bad weather.

Arbroath have been drawn against Hibs in the Scottish Cup, which will mean at least two midweek games extra for you in the new year.

Will you go through the winter without any games postponed on that tattie field like?

A midweek game is now also called a 'winter fixture pile up' is it?

Instead of playing Shire at home on 7th February we will be playing them at home on the 10th..

Did we know there was a fourth round?

We've WON it 3 times.

How many times have you fannies won it?

EXACTLY.

Now F/off back to yir midden.

ah the glory days for the Bully Wee, winning big cup games in front of the massed hordes at their spiritual home of Shawfield. Alas no more. Would bring a tear to a glass eye. Never mind though. Progress and all that...

Some of our fans take the bait far too easily

Considering coming out of retirement for this one to see if things are really as bad as folk are making it out to be. Plus I've noticed from previous highlights we now have a burger van which I ought to try out.

Careful Clyde man. A watching Queenie might have relatives who live in a midden, and start getting all greety about it.
