Stranraer vs Greenock Morton

Recommended Posts

Stranraer were in full control of the game well before either red card and deserved to win the game: Crighton made an utter c**t of the second goal which finished the match, and confirmed why he is a limited League Two diddy, miles out of his depth at this level.

And the sendings off in the 4-0 at Cappielow earlier in the season were ludicrous. Scottish referees are useless. Get used to it.

Erm no they were not. They were obvious red cards that for at least the first affected the outcome of the match. The red cards today were irrelevant as Stranraer were already in full control of the game.

Thanks, ST - any more detail? I noticed he was subbed a few weeks ago and hasn't appeared since. Where did Caraux go, btw?

Not sure he pulled something in his leg taking a goal kick a few weeks back and he hasn't recovered yet. Caraux is also injured not sure what's wrong with him though.

To be fair to your keeper today he was far from the worst Morton player on show making a few decent saves.

Grant Adam, brother of Charlie Adam. He'll only be here for 2 or 3 games, no plans to sign him permanent.

Not seen much of him, but he seems a very promising keeper. Surprised he's without a club. Then again, he's a bit of a bawbag outside of football.

Don't think he can sign on for a club this season. Alloa tried to sign him but he made a bit of a mistake as he signed for us during the pre-season and first few games as cover, then agreed to sign a short-term deal for Downfield Juniors just to tide him over without realising he can't sign for more than 2 teams.

Admittedly it was a while ago but we won 4-2 at EEP in League Cup 1st round, 2nd leg in August 1979. 1st leg at Stair Park was 0-0.

That's practically yesterday as far as I'm concerned.

Tbf I don't think he could have done much as the ball was played behind him, hard for him to change direction there.

Doesn't change the fact he's utter shite though.

To give him some credit, I thought his positioning was pretty spot on, but the cross is hardly whipped in causing him to have to change direction in a split second, it is almost scuffed into the box, about a foot behind him. He should have been able to get something on that, but his balance was all off.

Where's he going though?

Who knows. Those brief highlights don't show you the stupidity of his 2nd yellow either, blatant tug on the jersey right in front of the referee after being turned for the umpteenth time in the middle of the park.

Neither Crighton or Kilday spot the danger in the box. There's one player looking to get on the end of that cross and he has 2 defenders beside him. Crighton never senses the danger behind him and it's not the first time he's been guilty of this. He makes a generic step forward to block the cross without really thinking about where the danger is. He has to be aware of where the forward is and where he has to be to stop the ball from getting to him. Kilday's job is even simpler - make sure the forward doesn't get a clean strike on the ball. He has to see that Crighton doesn't have Malcolm, so he has to get in front of him to block the danger.

We concede so many goals like this away from home - ball in behind the full back, no real pressure on the cross, no marking in the middle.

Milojevic seemed to me to be more culpable at both goals than Crighton. The first goal he was ball watching and allowed the number 9 to run off him for the rebound. The second he should have done better in stopping the cross. The first was an excellent strike from a stupid free kick but the second was just way too easy!

Crighton is a diddy mate. Don't come on here and make excuses for him. It's time that he , Duffy, Lamie and Stefan McLuskey were shown the door. Do you have any excuses to make for them? Is that your opinion as a club Director then?
