10menwent2mow
Just having a look at the fixtures for the new year after January, now that Celtic have finally caught up with everyone else and they could have a potential nightmare come February. They have already chosen to P-P the St Johnstone game on Jan 10th and the Kilmarnock game at home is P-P due to the Lge Cup Semi. Should they win that (which, lets face it, they should) and they will have to P-P the away game at Dundee scheduled for March 14th due to the Lge Cup Final. Throw in Europa Lge and Scottish Cup. Going to struggle to fit it in. 7th Feb - Dundee (a) Scot Cup 14th Feb - St J (a) 19th Feb - Europa Lge L32 22nd Feb - Hamilton (h) 26th Feb - Europa Lge L32 1st Mar - Aberdeen (h) 7th Mar - Scot Cup Last 8 (potentially)12th Mar - Europa L16 (potentially)15th Mar - Lge Cup Final19th Mar - Europa L16 (potentially)22nd Mar - Dundee U (h)29th Mar - Scotland v Gibraltar4th Apr - St Mirren (a)8th Apr - Partick (h) 11th Apr - ICT (a) SPLIT That would leave them needing to schedule 3 league fixtures in there somehow. Free midweek 7th-14th Feb although that could be needed for a replay v Dundee. Free midweek 22nd - 29th Mar. Would they be allowed to schedule a league game for the week before an international.Might give the rest of us a wee chance if we can hold on to their coat tails over the festive period. Poet of the Macabre
They're still going to win the league but good investigative work all the same.

Aye don't get me wrong, they'll have it sown up between now and then. Will be interesting to see Deila's take on it come the time having willingly P-P'ed the Saints game. I seem to have read somewhere that he was moaning a wee bit after last night and having a bit of a pile-up, was that not a willingly P-P'ed game as well ???? sergie's no1 fan
Who knows, maybe cancelling league games early on in the season to play in lucrative friendlies will finally come back and bite them on the arse.

We've a big squad. We'll be fine. When we qualify for the EL final we will simply get the season extended anyway seeing as there is a precedent. Ross.
Last 16 of the Europa league? Probably a bit ambitious on their last showing.

Nothing new here. Celtic fans have been reported for doing pee-pees in the stand at Dens before.

Celtic Park was still being put back to normal after the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. Did they not have to relay the pitch, or did it just take ages to get that massive telly down? Pull My Strings
That looks like, at most, 14 games in 10 weeks. I suspect you can probably scrub at least 2 of those and quite possibly 4.

Potential 17 games in 9 weeks. Plus some of their players being on international duty. I'm not saying that it will pan out that way, just that there is a possibility of it happening. Suppose it depends on who they draw in the Europa Lge. Ach it'll give them something else to whinge about.

HibeeJibee
There should be no fixture congestion. They currently have 2 outstanding league games needing dates: but even if they aren't asked to play on the 2 free midweeks either side of the 'break' they took in early January, they could be played on the 2 free midweeks either side of the League Cup Semi-Final. Although not usual practice, any cup replay against Dundee could be played on the free midweek immediately after the first tie, instead of waiting 10 days. If they reach the League Cup Final, the displaced game against Dundee could be played on the free midweek 10 days earlier. Admittedly, it's unclear where any Scottish Cup Quarter-Final replay would fit-in. Perhaps postpone a league game/international rest midweek. There are also 2 free midweeks after the split, so a league game could be kept-over if the club involved was safely ensconsed in the Top 6 or Bottom 6. Sat 06 Dec ... Motherwell (A) Midweek ...... We didnt do that. The Partick Thistle game from last night was rearranged from the opening day of the season because CP was being used for the commonwealth games opening ceremony Good point otherwise

The Partick Thistle game from last night was rearranged from the opening day of the season because CP was being used for the commonwealth games opening ceremony Good point otherwise I still can't understand why Celtic were scheduled to play at CP on the opening day when it was known the stadium was oot the game, even if it is normally the case that the previous year's champions start off at home. Yet more SPFL incompetence.

Either side of the LC Semi final would be a sensible time to play them. The only issue to come up will be if we get a replays against Dundee and the next round of the Scottish cup if we get through that and if we carry on in the Europa League to Last 16, QF etc. Would much rather be playing in all competitions than be sitting at home watching TV. Keeps the season interesting
