Barry Hearn

Doncaster gives a New Year interview on BBC website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30650368

Saying that the issue isn't simply one of finding people who want to become the naming rights sponsor, but someone prepared to pay enough for it. Blames uncertainty caused by SPL-SFL merger in summer of 2013, "continuing uncertainty generally in the game", and the Rangers crises.

Also adds "Hearn was absolutely right to talk about the need to talk the game up and some of us talk the game down more than we should".

Finishes with discussion of Rangers and 'new club' v 'old club' issue.

Which we know his argument is incorrect

Do we honestly still have the 11-1 voting system? Unbelievable!

Yes, although I think some of the thresholds have been changed in terms of what falls under what supermajority.

In terms of the most vital issues - e.g. league reconstruction - a measure needs: 11-1 vote of Premiership clubs; 17-5 vote of a combined college of Premiership & Championship clubs; and 32-10 vote of the entire 42 member clubs.

It's a combination of the old SPL method (11-1) and the old SFL method (75%).
