SNP Conference 2014

Scotland's largest political party's 80th Annual National Conference will begin tomorrow in the heart of #Perthshire.

Here is a summary of some of the main events I am looking forward to.

Friday 14th
10h00 Leadership election results

The political battle that has been at the forefront of everyone's mind for weeks. This is sure to be an exciting event with three great candidates standing. I'm sure the 90,000 strong army of SNP members has made the right choice. Will we go for the experienced head of Hosie or does his position as a Westminster MP make him unsuitable? Will Brown's apparent strong support from fellow MSPs transfer into votes from the wider membership or will they plump for the perhaps more left-field candidate in Angela Constance? She certainly got my vote. Can't wait to hear the results.

15h00 Address by Alex Salmond

The man himself. This doesn't need any talking up. From the humble beginnings of a Linlithgow choirboy to becoming the father of the nation. The driving force behind a grassroots movement that has swept right through this small nation. Famed for his speech-making and oration this is sure to be essential viewing.

Saturday 15th
12h15 Fraternal Address by Leanne Wood AM, Leader of Plaid Cymru

A great chance to hear from our celtic brethren from Cymru. They hate Westminster as much as us so are welcome at conference. Unashamedly socialist and republican, Leanne Wood is is an all-round good-egg. Regularly abstaining from the royal openings of the Senedd by saying "I don't recognise the English Queen." This event is sure to make British nationalists seethe and is therefore a must watch.

15h10 Address by Nicola Sturgeon

Wee Nic addresses conference as leader for the first time and what an occasion this is set to be. Anas Sarwar is calling her ascent to leadership a "coronation" but we all know he is a c**t. This speech is the start of history in the making.

I'm not sure what the media coverage is set to be like but the SNP will be providing an exclusive live-feed through their Facebook page.

What you are guys looking forward to most?

I agree. Are you a fan too?

He's the correct choice from the list of options, however there are several more talented SNP politicians out there IMO. Humza Yousaf, Angus Robertson and Derek Mackay spring to mind.

Brown is uninspiring but seems like the "least worst" of the choices. Hosie would be an unmitigated disaster (hence why I hope he wins) and Constance is still a seething mess over the referendum result.

I can imagine Brown would just quietly sit in the corner and do what he's telt by Sturgeon. The type of "lunch box" deputy some leaders prefer to utilise.

Are you excited for Leanne Wood's appearance?

The tears as Salmond shuttles off into the sunset, tail firmly between legs, after his utter mauling in the referendum.

Glorious.

Cheers mate. Will give that a try.

I'm now staying overnight, recommend anywhere else?

The sandeman is just up from the concert hall towards the centre and is fine if you want cheap stuff - wetherspoons type place but I think they show sport.across the road from there is the foundry which I have always enjoyed for daytime drinks but might get a bit wild west at night. On the way there you will pass the famous grouse bar which I haven't tried but looks worth a go.

The salutation hotel will be crammed with delegates and the greyfriars on south st is good.

The bit where the pubs are is an area you could walk around in 20 minutes so you should stumble across something without much effort.

Seen Sturgeon being pressed about Indy2 on BBC this morning. She never ruled it out and said she won't write the 2016 manifesto right now.

Said pro-indy parties must get legislation through Scots parly to have another independence referendum.

Quite heartening listening to her :thumsup2

Seriously, how utterly ruined are you going to be when the 2016 manifesto does not include a referendum?

Are you a little bit embarrassed that even the other Yes clowns have sidled away from you sharpish over this nonsense, and only you appear to be holding this torch, wondering where everyone else has gone?

I wish she would take charge and talk about governing the country as opposed to harping on about independence so soon after a defeat in the referendum. It's wearing a bit thin.

She's in a difficult position.

As Reynard and I have said, she knows the score, but the morons who have joined the SNP like colkitto don't.

So she's got to find a way to keep the leaflet fodder content, whilst of course realising herself that Independence is a dead duck for the next generation, and we've moved on to looking at how the Scottish Parliament's role will change in the post-referendum climate.

I don't envy her. She has an idiot group of members and a wider population that have completely rejected independence that she needs to vote for her.
