UKIP

UKIP should come out for English independence. Would probably pick up some votes while not losing many that they have, and aid the Scottish independence cause too.

They're basically English nationalists anyway. Otherwise why would it matter if 'money is being shovelled over Hadrian's wall'? We're all part of the UK so what's the difference, I don't hear him moaning that say Yorkshire gets a lot of public spending.

That and one of the unionist parties' Scottish branches come out for independence would be huge steps imo. We should also be big supporters of Welsh independence, we are in a very similar position to them, uniquely so, therefore should have sympathy with their cause. And it benefits our cause too, so we should definitely support it.

Welsh independence isn't really on the table. Even Plaid Cymru are only really in it for more powers at the moment. Opinion polls show support in the single figures.

Wonder if we will ever see a ENP

The English Democrats have tried it, but they're too right wing to find a common ground with the SNP. A centre-left English independence supporting party that's affiliated to the SNP and Plaid could have success in the North of England and perhaps in the South West, IMO.

They're fucked when he goes back to the tories 8)

I think Carswell is likely to stay UKIP. He seems to genuinely believe in UKIP's policies and aims and has plenty of personal support to see himself elected regardless of (right-wing) party. He didn't defect simply to try and save his own skin.

Reckless, on the other hand, jumped ship when he saw the polls and was scared for his job. What he missed was that support for "protest" parties spikes in the mid-term. He was always going to be re-elected in the by-election, but find it tougher going in the general election.

Nope, Reckless defected largely due to a long running battle over the local Tory council breeching (or rather trying to) their own rules over building on green belt land, in particular on an area of land known as the Hoo peninsula, & being told by party HQ to shut up about it - in particular the plans to build the so-called "Boris Island" new airport in the area.

That the successful Tory candidate was specifically chosen for her "green credentials" (she runs a marine surveying business) outlines what the Tories knew they needed to counter in that locality to get the mugs to return to them. Bye bye Hoo Peninsula, hello rocketing asthma levels for the locals.

Couldn't give a f**k about the Welsh tbh.

We should though, there's no country in the world in a more similar situation and its just good politics to make alliances with those in the same position as you and with the same enemy.

The fact you have such disdain for them is probably a result of the divide and rule practiced by the British state for hundreds of years, they do that as they want you to not give a f**k about Wales. They do that within Scotland too.
