Murphy is indeed to the right of the party. Total career politician.

One thing is he ain't stupid and knows every dirty trick in the book. Will be a tough opponent for Nicola, but he's far from being the ideal leader for Labour

Because you see all three of the unionist parties singing 'Koom bah yah' around a campfire right enough.

Is the Scottish Labour leadership decided in the same way as the UK?

I have no idea what Labour gets up to. No interest either.

The question wasn't meant to be directed at yourself, as that much I kind of figured. I just think it would be hilarious if their Scottish leader elected turned out to be an even bigger clusterfuck than the Ed Miliband one.

Don't know.

There SHOULD always be a contest for these things. Its bad otherwise.

Absolutely no worries about him becoming Labour leader, he's more able a politician than has come before but he's not without his failings, at least Gray came across as a well meaning, decent sort of guy. I think he'll rub people up the wrong way within Labour, clearly the current labour guard in Scotland are not fans, spells trouble for labour IMO. Also a bully as well, was he not the guy who was bawling at Labour defectors after the Palestine vote? The electorate will suss him out soon enough.

Funny seeing the people who can't see beyond their own little far-left bubble. "I WANT A LEFTIE, SO FUCKIN SCOTLAND WANTS A LEFTIE".

The reality is different. Crying on about him being a 'war criminal' is hilarious too. He will be a success, just as he has been in his constituency.

I don't think many people think all of Scotland wants one thing*. It's reasonable to speculate about how elections will go and I'd say generally Scotland seems to favour somewhere between centre-left and the centre. Not everyone though, so don't get too distressed about it.

*And even less than nobody thinks a majority of people in Scotland are after "far-left". You'd be lucky if anything resembling the far-left gets a seat in Holyrood or Westminster.

We are actually pretty changeable. It wasn't that long ago that the Tories had over 20 seats here.

Of the three, Murphy is probably the best choice for Labour given that the other two are utter non-entities. Murphy does seem a capable politician with the potential to turn Labour round a bit in Scotland. I'm not sure how much his 'baggage' and generally pretty abrasive character will count against him.

I suppose at least he has something approaching a "character" which is more than can be said of all his predecessors at Holyrood (assuming he wins) going right back to Dewar. Labour hasn't exactly been blessed with a decent leader up there. I never really understood why they didn't sort out their glaringly obvious problems starting as soon as they lost power. They sat on their hands and hoped it would all fall back into their laps. Fucking lazy useless socialist c***s.

Yep, Labour's long walk to oblivion has been all the more hilarious for how preventable it's been. Wendy Alexander, Iain Grey and Joanne Lamont make Jack McConnell look good.

Its unbelievable that these people were ever leading a political party. Looks like a reward for leaflet delivering like you used to see back in the days of Monklands and the various other horrible labour fiefdoms in Scotland. There's no party that deserves this more frankl. They are thoroughly vile and stuffed full of utter c***s in general. Seen enough real bile off them to last me a lifetime

ever forget the spume flecked toothless rant from Tommy Farrell aimed at my mate when he stood up in Cumnock during the last ever Strathclyde elections. Farrell was education convenor at the time. In charge of a massive budget and nearly half the population of Scotland. The guy could barely write his own name, what an utter c**t.
