The notion of 'national' teams means that notions of us and them are naturally conjured. Rationally i know that pride in scotland is nonsense - I am a homo sapien that randomly popped out in one tiny part of the world. However we are socialised into feeling a sense of national pride. This is largely negative and will take a mass revolution/catastrophe to alter! However, with the 'evil' of nationalism not going away soon certain nation events i.e. the olympics, football etc have been shown to encourage tolerance and acceptance of the other. so basically football is the wrong avenue to berate 'nationalism'...

more importantly to underline the fanny'ness of gorgeous george.....So basically... as an 'intelligenly coherant' man (lol) george the globalist socialist should surely not back Ireland or Scotland realising that 'national identity' is socially constructed by elites to ensure stability and unity? but no. he has a black and white view. standard. he is fucking anti-intelligence. Me and my friend have a saying that, 'intelligence is not what you know, its how you think' i.e. george mate you know a lot of facts but cannot think outside your prejudiced, insular thought processs.

To affirm the lack of intelligence - george galloway is a devout christian who believes hell is a REAL place. so I refuse to engage with real life issues with someone that accepts the one of the most unscientific and incoherent books around.

Global socialism aside I'd start like this

Marshall

Whittaker Martin Hanley Robertson

Brown Morrison

Naismith Maloney Anya

Fletcher

Not sure Strachan won't fancy Mulgrew beside Brown instead. Think Morrison is at his best- for Scotland- there though and allows us to keep the ball better.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that because we're not playing at Hampden we have no 'home advantage' whatsoever? Yeah I know they'll be more Scotland fans but they'll still be many Irish fans in the home section. This is pretty much a neutral venue for both teams. Looking at both squads I reckon we SHOULD win this. We know what that means though don't we?

I don't really see any real reason to fear Ireland here. This is the sort of side Scotland should be beating at home.

Over the past few years under their previous manager Ireland have managed to scrape results in games like this.

I don't think there is much between the teams. Can see it being settled by a set piece either way .

Given our form under Strachan and the way the group is panning out anything less than 3 points is a bit of a disaster.

Scotland will win this match I have no doubt in hay the team is playing well under the wee man and the players are mostly in form and giving 100% for the country, can anyone name me what players they think will make up the Rep team?

Spot on. Obviously they can be a threat and have reasons to be confident themselves, but we shouldn't fear them: this is an entirely winnable game and if we're seeing ourselves as good enough to qualify, we have to be good enough to win games like this.

Absolutely, however same could've been said ahead of Norway, Czech Republic, Serbia, Wales, Macedonia etc.

I'm more confident under Strachan but we're in for a tough match tomorrow night, and I for one am shitting it. But we should be looking to win.

I'd say Scotland are a tougher side to get past than they were for pretty much all of those.

Obviously the nerves will still be there as Ireland aren't exactly pushovers, but if Scotland even drop points in this one, I'll be sorely disappointed, and for the first time, nervous about qualification.

Forde

Coleman O'Shea Wilson Ward

McGeady McCarthy Gibson McClean

Hoolahan

Keane.

Probably a mile off though.

4-1 to Scotland. Will be an easy game

Germany only managed a 1-1 against them. Why should we be so confident of racking up a score like 4-1 against them? When did we last score 4 in a match (8 years ago vs Faroes?). What was the score the last time we played ROI (1-0 to them)?

We should be capable of taking a win from this, but it ain't going to be easy.

why are the Irish getting their knickers in a twist over this sky sports piece on the player debate.

my favourite comment is "you dont see this getting done for any other team" only for Sky to do it for Scotland in the same clip

O Shea

Keough

Ward

McGeady

Whelan/McCarthy

Hendricks

Walters

Long

Keane
