Thought that was a myth?

Some quick googling suggets:

Daddy long legs can mean a crane fly or an arachnid.

There is an urban myth about crane flys being fatally poisonous but having fangs too shrt to penetrate human skin.

I also found out that most spiders reproduce by the equivalent of jizzing on their hands and fingering a girl and this includes the species where the female then eats the male.

They don't even get their hole!!!!!!!

I just caught a monster spider. It was only ~5mm long but I'm convinced it would have been a 12" bad boy in a few weeks time.

As nice as places like Australia appear, I don't know if I could be f***ed having to check the bog like that every time I wanted the loo. Same applies to simple stuff like putting your shoes on in the morning etc etc.

I also like being able to crawl into caves without worrying about what lives in there. Badgers square-go-ing you in your face in your dig are an unfortunate exception, but a rare one. Nae hairy things crawling into your oversuit or King Browns etc is a good compromise which I'll happily take.

The young lad at work is actually mortally terrified of even small spiders, and even their webs. I'm waiting for the opportunity when we have to work in a loft so I can place a giant, furry comedy spider on top of the hatch before sending him up to open it.

I am the same mate, actually terrified of them . I hate it , it is completely irrational but I can't help it . It has calmed down a bit recently but it was dreadfull at times, used to Hoover them up and stand with the bit as far out as possible and try to not even look at it as I done it, if one was in my room I would not sleep till it was dead as trapping it and moving it was not even an option but I couldn't even go near the thing. Bed time would consist of checking under pillows , duvets and even lifting the mattress as I had experiences of the fuckers crawling about when I was in bed, it was like OCD, grim .:(

. One of my best mates thought it would be funny to try and put one on me (reasonably sized)at a house party a few years back when I was about 17 , gave him plenty of warnings as he headed over that I did not find it remotely funny and I am not a violent person and a generally happy drunk who can take a laugh aimed at me no bother but as soon as he got a certain distance I just about flew for him and had to be calmed down

As you say it's totally irrational but so common. Another mate of mine is the same, one night years ago while sitting in the house having a few beers someone threw the green leafy bit off a tomato on him which looked vaguely spidery, he screamed like the guy on Home Alone with the tarantula and his nose started bleeding

I never bothered about spiders whatsoever until one night I had a horrible dream involving giant spiders climbing down the outside walls of buildings in Buchannan street. Woke up and thought it was just a crazy dream until the next time I saw I spider I had such a horrible feeling and began to fear them, or feel awful when I seen them. I have no idea where this came from. Couple of years later the ex chucked me out the house (not spider related) and I was sitting on the bog at my mums house and one scuttled across infront of me. I had that much on my mind and bigger issues to deal with that the sight of this wee bassa didn't bother me and I just malkied it. they haven't bothered me one bit since.
