Can we just change their name to Lulzbour now and get it over with?

This is a great thread. People still wanting to carry on the great socialist experiment despite humpty dumpty attempts in numerous countries over the past 100 years.

One reason why it doesn't work, nice idea though it is - People.

An independent socialist, republican Scotland. Here's a visual description of that nirvana.

Tumbleweed blowing through, everywhere looking like Dundee or Wishaw & a population of around 4 million as anyone with anything about them jumps on a Virgin train.

The Scotland sign at Gretna can have a strapline saying the latin equivalent of naive and marginalised.

It really depends on what you mean by socialism, doesn't it? Centralised control of all functions, equality of outcome - or modern social democracy, as practices successfully in many EU countries - equality of opportunity, democracy, accoutnable.

As for 'republican' I'm not sure what the monarchy is bringing to the table in terms of preventing a mass exodus tbh.

Who on here or anywhere else besides in your head have mentioned "An independent socialist, republican Scotland"?

That's me now joined the SNP.

Not sure how to break it to my no voting parents, who live in the unionist cesspit that is Helensburgh. Might pull an Ainsley face when I break the news, with a little bit of Dale Carrick thrown in for maximum seethe.

Don't tell them and buy them a membership each for Christmas. That'll f**k them.

Just tell them and do the Patrick Bateman throw with your membership card.

As of today Sweden has a new 'Left/Green' government with a cabinet comprising 50% women who's first act was to recognised State of Palestine.

Could've been us. :(

Sorry which part of that is not in people's minds?

SWP are mentioned above - socialist and not likely to keep the monarchy which makes them republican.

4 regions voted for YES. Glasgow and N Lanarkshire were two of the largest in population terms, & which have significant Irish Catholic populations, who generally, but not wholly, are republican. Scotland as a whole is less impressed witht the royal family than Britain in general.

So I am unsure why you don't think that would be what Scotland could be in a fairly short period of time after independence. An independent, socialist, republican country.

What has Palestine got to do with Scotland?

The other question is are all those new SNP members going to share your lunatic political views?

Haha. You wish! No comfort for you here.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. F**k or sorry Forza Dundee's political views won't be welcomed by all those SNP members. Also everyone knows that Climate Change won't be solved by wind farms and the like. Do you know that 300 square miles of them still won't be enough to generate the power of a Nuclear station?

That's right, most of the new membership will split because they can't all be mentally ill
