EpicMike
With Sweeney suspended for the next game, this gives Bowyer a convenient excuse to hook him for Ashcroft and give the armband to someone else. Had a very poor start to the season.

Ludo*1
Bowyer said that he realised players weren't up for a fight after the Partick Thistle game. McGinn was subbed at HT that game and only been a bit part player since. I reckon he's had the Byrne treatment but his agent hasn't went to the media so remains in the squad.
Bigmouth Strikes Again
I agree with dropping McGinn, contributes nothing, although might get a chance now with McCowan probably injured.
ravabelli
Who does our scouting? Looking at what other teams in the league seem to find compared to our signings, whoever it is needs binned too

Before that, we didn't really have a scouting system at all.

That’s our formation - how are we feeding the wingers and getting them into dangerous areas? Seems to me smashing the ball head height at 2 small wingers (or completely out the park if you’re our keeper) has been the most adopted tactic thus far but we even seem to lose that at times and resort to not really doing much at all other than string 3 or 4 backward passes until we are under sufficient pressure to justify pumping it anywhere (or getting robbed like Sweeney did tonight) Its eye-bleeding stuff and the fact he’s lobbed big Ashie on up top leads me to think he’s making a point we lack a focal point up top - so maybe if we get one we’ll abandon launching it at the wings and just start launching it centrally - which will be just as bad. We can only piss with the cock we’ve got but whatever he’s trying at the moment doesn’t suit this current squad of players imo.

Agree with all that, but think the formation he plays, is the best way to play, with the players he's got.
Fifespud
Who does our scouting? Looking at what other teams in the league seem to find compared to our signings, whoever it is needs binned too To be fair Robinson looks half decent and French and Grayson aren’t the worst we’ve ever signed either. WRT style. Against Arbroath, Grayson was playing in front of the back 4 and was always available, it worked. Tonight (and against Morton) him and Gowser were swapping that role but when Gowser came deep Grayson went into hiding.

Bowyer underestimates Scottish football. These lower league English players are simply not good enough. Y'know what @johnnydun, I would be tempted to agree until I witnessed Ayr United's performance incorporating Lee Bullen's selective recruitment from the same gene pool. Obviously this was from my armchair so I dare not cast any questions over our own recruitment quality, or lack of. As I've previously posted, no negativity allowed on our thread it would appear. I do not seek to purposely upset anyone of a non realistic opinion on such a bleak evening. Regards

Robinson looks decent enough but Williamson is no better than anything we’ve already got. Grayson did look decent in his first game but getting the impression he could turn out to be one of those players that flatter to deceive. A couple of big physical players needed, we looked quite weak tonight against Ayr
Ludo*1
I'm starting to think Grayson & Williamson have been signed as cheap loans so we could cover Byrne, hopefully get him off the books and address other areas of the pitch.

Although we could take our pickings.
Pens_Dark
Well...that game was the final straw for me with Sweeney. Passing was awful, gets turned so easily, aerially he was dreadful tonight and the petulance for the red card summed up why he shouldn't be a captain. He's had a dreadful start to the season but I was never sold on him last season either. Can Bowyer please realise Mcghee should not be anywhere near the team too please? Ryan Stevenson said after the match that we looked weak and that has been the theme of our team for 3 seasons now. Byrne would make not one bit of fucking difference. Marshall had one of his better performances for us but we still need to improve on him or at the very least get someone in to battle for his position. Mulligan is a young player and he is going to have performances like tonight where he is largely anonymous. Deflated watching that, like last season all over again. Continue like that and we will be nowhere near top spot and rightly so. Edited August 26, 2022 by Pens_Dark

I don’t totally agree about McGhee but don’t think midfield is his position, the rest I agree with.

Mcghee is one of those players, similar to Byrne, that people will either like or dislike. I just don't see what he brings to the team some of his defending over the past couple of seasons as a centre back has been terrible and then when he is deployed as a holder/central midfielder he just does not have the awareness or ability to play that position.
