He strikes me as one of these new managers who has a philosophy and sets his team to play the same formation and style every week, regardless of the opposition.

He's already changed the formation about 4 times this season.

I think, given the circumstances he took over, he has to be given the season unless there's somehow an actual threat of relegation come about February or March.

I've seen almost all of the teams in this league now, and we're not the best, but we're not too far off. I do think there's enough good players there to get a decent run together if and when it clicks, particularly going forward.

Just out of curiosity for anyone that was there today, how did Dorrans perform after coming on? I imagine it wasn't a huge contribution, but considering he's not trained with the squad yet I'd like to know how he got on.

His first couple of touches were underhit passes which almost put us in some bother which led to a couple of amusing shouts of ‘he’s fucking pish McPake’ and ‘get that c**t in the sea McPake’ etc. After that he played a couple of nice passes in and around their box, looked classy but we didn’t feed him the ball enough. He looks slim and fit which was a relief.

Christ knows what the problem is. We are far too slow to get the ball forward. The players are clearly shit scared to play risky, defensive opening passes in case we lose possession which makes the build up ponderous and predictable. To that end Dorrans has to start next week, he definitely shouldn’t be scared to play opportunity creating passes. I’m a bit blinded to Cammy’s limitations but I’m not sure who else can play right back? Byrne needs dropped for definite. Has been a massive disappointment so far. Possibly Gowser too, much as I love the guy his pirouetting slows things down and in front of goal he’s fucking useless. Young McPake looks useful but lightweight - he’d be better coming on against tiring defences IMO.

So same defence as today, a midfield from Robertson, Ness, Dorrans, McDaid and Todd (who has been a success in his limited opportunities imo) and perm 2 from Nelson, Johnson and Hemmings.

Why - he’s being paid a fortune and Sunderland are the draw specialists of League 1. They cannae win a match - and naturally the expectation of a club of that size in that league is huge. Get him in the sea along wae his bum boy Lewis Morgan 🤣🤣

Get your homophobic shite in the sea more like, cunto.

There is plenty of time and plenty of opportunities to make up ground, and I believe the alternative option is just a case of 'those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.'

We haven’t learned, and we are repeating history. Appointing a young inexperienced manager, backing him significantly, style, tactics and formation is a mystery, results not good enough in the league. Is this McCann or McPake?

Im not calling for his head, yet. But if we aren’t sorted by the end of October, then I’d get rid.

Backing a manager is a great idea, but only if he is the right manager. There’s been absolutely no signs that McPake is that man.

Understandably there is quite a bit of negativity here.
Despite what is happening I still love supporting Dundee and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  It’s generally just Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons that it’s not much fun [emoji849]
Watching Dundee play football and Scotland play rugby is like drilling your own teeth without anaesthetic.
