We are linked with another winger, Glentoran player John Herron.

Wha? Eh, he's got some experience at this level at least...
If it's the same herron that played for us he's definitely not a winger, centre mid with limited pace. I actually quite liked him when he was at the pars, good passer of the ball and loved a tackle.

While we are waiting for our marquee summer signings to be announced, what about suggestions for the signing we've made that had the greatest unfulfilled potential? The player that, when his signing was announced, you thought "Yes, he will be a brilliant player for us" and then failed to deliver in the most spectacular way possible.

I'll start with Tom Hateley, Craig Burley and Phil Roberts.

Any more? (I'm not thinking of players who were pretty much unheard of and made no impact, but ones you thought would be a cracking signing and weren't.

FFS Shadow, I'd forgotten all about him.*

*Do you think that's a two-tone Rolex?

Thank you.

Yeh, I reckon a two-tone Rolex Submariner date.  They cost about £10k these days, which is about £9,990 more than what Hately is worth.

Vince Mennie, 1st team regular at Cologne until we shelled out I recall circa £70 grand in the mid eighties.

The rest was history I'm afraid!!!

Kallman scores for Finland.

He was one of those which I managed to convince myself there was a player in there, ultimately to be disappointed.

Personally think letting Kallman go may still be a mistake.

Still only 20 and now a starting international goal scorer.

Might be an unpopular opinion but Colin Nish should have been better than he was considering he was top 10 goal scorer in the SPL

Most definitely. He was a brilliant find and will have a really good career.

John Herron, not a winger.

After us he went to Raith, done shite there and went to Glentoran, thought he was OK.

There's been a few over the years

Beto Carranza - When news broke that we'd signed him youTube footage of him scoring the South American goal of the season was circulated (he basically ran the length of the pitch and skinned an entire team before scoring). He was also seen as a bit of a free kick specialist. He showed some brief flashes of quality but ultimately didn't deliver on the hype. I seem to remember him scoring a fine free kick in a 3-1 defeat at Hearts and a penalty in a 1-1 draw at home to the DABs. That's about it.

Colin West - Signed around 1990 iirc, he was supposed to be a lightning quick, skilful winger. Sadly he never got going and became a target for the boo boys. He did however turn in a remarkable performance in the B&Q Cup Final win over Ayr United. He was virtually unplayable for much of that game and tore Ayr's LB a new arse.

Arthur Albiston - What's this? We're signing ex-Man United and Scotland legend Arthur Albiston? Amazing! Actually no, he's old, error-prone and slower than cancer. Fucking dire and one of a spate of atrocious signings in the late 80s. John Holt and Billy Kirkwood also spring to mind, although we had no expectations they'd be any good. They were fully expected to be old and shite and duly turned out to be.

There are probably dozens more I've forgotten about tbh

So the story today is if we manage to get Meekings and Davies fit it'll be like signing 2 new players.
True.
Anybody know when Colin Cameron is likely to be fit again?

The free kick he scored against hearts was in a 2-0 win I think and the penalty against them was when we beat them 2-1, stevie Lovell scored the winner
