He'll probably take over at County and help relegate you again, tbf.

The Ross county fans told us hiring McIntyre without Dodds was a disaster as Dodds was the brains behind that operation. Seems they were correct.

I've seen a lot of insults thrown McIntyres way on this thread over the years, but none as vicious as this.

After the entirely predictable fallout when McIntyre was announced as manager Nelms claimed he had spoken to several prominent Dundee supporters prior to McIntyre’s signing who assured him that there would be no issue with Dodds signing on at Dens.  A club that would be out of business if everyone had voted like he did.  Nelms actually believed he could bring Dodds to Dens.  That says more about Nelms than anyone else involved in the whole sorry affair.

I can almost guarantee that Nelms had not heard of or had any idea what a Dodds was.

A mistake to be sure and one I'm sure he has learned from.

Also some (kinda) good news regarding Byrne. His injury is less severe than feared, but he still sustained ligament damage which may still require surgery. A specialist will decide if it's necessary, which hopefully it isn't. Still out for quite a while, but hopefully less severe on impacting his life as it potentially could have.

If he spoke to several prominent Dundee supporters and they said it wouldn't be a problem, I think it says more about them. At least Nelms did some kind of opinion hunting.

He didn’t ask me, as I’m just a normal supporter rather than prominent,  but I sent an email telling him why Dodds was an inappropriate appointment. The reply was well thought out, and ultimately we didn’t appoint him. Instead we go the horror of the useless twat that was given the job.

Fair play to him not taking Dodds though, the fans spoke and he listened. This was after the Ball Sackintyre appointment.

I’m not convinced Nelms spoke to anyone about Dodds either.  If he did, he’s placing his trust in the wrong people.  There are many prominent Dundee supporters Nelms could have sounded out.  I just don’t believe any of them wouldn’t have highlighted the potential significant issues in signing McIntyre.

I sent an e Mail in the subject as well.  I agree, the reply was very professional.  Unfortunately, I would imagine you, like me, sent your e Mail after McIntyre’s appointment was announced.  I don’t think there were many, if any,  of us predicting McIntyre as our next manager.

Who would be considered a 'prominent' Dundee supporter that Nelms would approach? The Marrs? They'd not be Dodds' biggest fan. Harry Mac? He was involved with the club when Dodds voted against the CVA so unlikely.

Who we talking here?

As an aside, I saw him in the Art Bar a few weekends ago and he complimented my attire.

Agreed.

Frankly, the former manager whose name I won’t write as I refuse to acknowledge that he could have been so useless, was a bad appointment, and in all likelihood from a footballing perspective for the Dee, Dodds’ presence might have improved things- although a Dodds return would have been unacceptable.
What nobody could have forseen was how incompetent the unpolished tangerine turd was without the “competence” of the right hand little venal Dodds to do the work.
A woeful chapter in a litany of pish years.
