McPake was absolutely fine in his role as U18 manager. He'd been doing a decent job, was respected by the club and fans. It's not his fault he accepts the first team manager's job when he should never have been offered it.

I don't buy that Nelms went for the cheapest option because it was cheap either! He's happy squandering Keyes' money at other times. He just wanted to appoint the guy he'd put so much time, money and faith into.

It's mad. We were pursuing Jack Ross, until Neil McCann made a u-turn and we were pursuing Jim Goodwin until McPake had a Dundee side put in a decent display on the last day of the season against St Mirren. So close to possible decent-ness yet so far!

Jim Goodwin refused the job. When Nelmes told him Jimmy Nic was the number 2. Goodwin told him to stick it

What positives does Nelms possibly still see in McPake? I’m genuinely at a loss now.

Virtually every game starts with bizarre tactics or a bizarre starting line up and quite regularly both. How can you drop Walcott from the team after being arguably the best player in the previous game, then onto that nonsense of a shape to the side. Do we even work on the defensive side to our game 🤦🏻‍♂️

I actually put this up as a serious suggestion a couple of months back and was shot down.

I would not be surprised in the slightest though, he likes the more left field appointments.

From what I’ve seen and heard from Shelley I’d rather keep McPake
