Just sent an email out to the SPFL questioning the integrity of the competitions if there was to be promotions or relegations in the case of this bat-crunching episode lasting longer than expected

Wow, that’s utterly pathetic Old Firm level mental behaviour. In theory, we might all be Dees here, with obvious interlopers, but there’s no doubt who has won the league, and should go up.

If a game gets abandoned with 20 minutes to go I believe the game is replayed, regardless of the score.  Surely the same principle would apply?

In any case, whether United wins the title or not is the least of our worries at the moment.  Coronavirus is likely to get worse and last a lot longer than many people think.  If the new season can start at the usual time that will be good enough for me in terms of football.

In lawyer speak the league hasn’t been won ‘beyond all probability’ so if the league season doesn’t get completed it will be null and void. If Scottish football decides otherwise there will be grounds to sue on potential loss of earnings which straight away would include tv money so we are already speaking over a million pounds. Hearts, Partick etc aren’t going to be relegated on the same grounds either.

If Inverness win their game in hand along with their home match against the DABs which was scheduled for 10th April the gap would be 8 points. That's assuming United didnt continue their woeful recent run of form until that date.

Nobody can be told they're promoted with over ten matches to play. The integrity of the league would be shot. The notion that could be done and that they've already won the league is rather dull, but then again you described a 5 2 3 formation as football manager fantasy last week, so intelligence clearly isn't a strong point.

Thank you.

If (and it’s a big if) United were awarded the title without the season finishing this thread will be worth a watch.

Or conversely if this  season is declared  null and void the United thread will be worth a watch.

The only sensible thing to do is look for some sort of precedent to decide what should happen.  The closest I could find was Dallas.  As such  the “Bobby Ewing Rules” should  apply.  Treat this season like it never happened.

In that scenario though you’d still most likely be in the second tier next season. You’ll have the chance to defend your title though [emoji1303]

Just noticed that our glorious thread has now ticked over to 2500 pages — 2500 pages of everything Dundee. This is genuinely the only area I read on P&B nowadays.

Thank you, fellow Dees.

Who'd of thought with the glorious thread about to turn 3000, we'd have reached this very unlikely destination!

Only reality you could accurately have predicted is Granny D still posting here on a sunny Sunday.

Safe regards

The DABs were doing their best to bottle it, but Caley just haven't been good enough to maintain a realistic challenge, the arse has fallen out of Aye, and we were stupid enough to star the season with a thick rookie manager. Even if Caley won their game in hand, then beat the DABs to get it to an 8 point deficit, I highly doubt they'd win every remaining game to at least make it interesting. They're nothing like the Caley side that went on that mental run to keep us down years ago.

That said, United haven't "won" anything yet. No one had mathematically won anything, or been relegated so ending the season now with the current standings would be fucking mental. The reconstruction chat is nonsense as well. The last reconstruction was only carried out because SFA were shitting themselves about the ***s 2.0 not getting straight up through the leagues.

The only options that should be on the table are either trying to complete the season, but only IF we get playing again in May or June at the latest, starting next season late but cutting down the fixtures, by binning shite like the League and Petrofac cups, and no replays in the Scottish; OR voiding the season entirely. It will basically come down to the SFA/SPFL deciding which set of old firm fans they feel less inclined to annoy.

Contracts will be a major issue, particularly for lower league clubs.
