kristov
Is "standing by" someone with numerous assault charges, and who admits spitting on folk, a sign of class these days? I'd be a little uneasy to DFC binning a guy who admits to having mental health issues. A line needs to be drawn, however, where the club have to say they've done all they can and perhaps more specialist help should be sought. Only the player and club know where that line is and I reckon we are pretty close to it. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

kristov
One more incident and he will clearly have to be sacked. That's pretty much my thinking. He's already said that he finds it difficult to socialise and stay out of trouble and that was evident at the Underground. Being in the (relative) spotlight magnifies that issue but there is a solution that mitigates most of the chance of reoccurrence - don't go out drinking in public. Up to now, based on what has been reported, I agree with the club's handling of the situation.
Dindeleux
I’m just not buying it that McGowan will ever learn and some of the posts on here seem to indicate that we should feel sorry for him in some way. He’s obviously a wee ned dick. I saw it mentioned that he has kids - if that isn’t enough motivation to stay at home and not put yourself in a situation where you know you can’t behave then I doubt Dundee will. -

ah-dee
We are struggling for 'captains' this season. McCann seems to be rotating it with Moussa, Wighton and Kusunga receiving the armband so far this (pre)season. Kerr and O'Dea seem to have been stripped of the responsibility as even the last few games they featured in last season, neither got a sniff. The right decision at least on Kerr's part for me. With O'Dea looking like he's been stripped of the responsibility, McGowan and Caulker suffering from off field problems and Meekings selling Herbalife there's no stand out candidates. no change from last season then. id stick with gowser despite his problems
Carlos the Jackal
Some of the hand-wringing snowflakes coming on here cracking on about Gowser’s heinous crime ffs. Was he out of order? - of course. Is gobbing on someone the action of a dirty wee b*****d - yep. Should the bouncer have grown a pair and just rapped his pus rather than go greeting to the Police? - without doubt. Think that covers it.

This should’ve been his last chance - Dundee should have punted him rather than give him a coaching job. What an outstanding role model for your young players.

I still believe the prices for an adult is pretty high but meh Bit in bold is absolutely comical IMO. Last season was anything but good. I know people who had season tickets last year, who havent renewed as they have had enough of the dismal football and terrible results.

Your approach to justice reminds me of the ref in charge of a junior game a colleague of mine played in. This guy was, ahem, a highly combative midfielder and a defender got so riled he spat at him. The defender was duly laid out by a right hook. The ref ran over, pulling out his red card. My mate protested "the b*****d spat at me!". The ref replied "the red card's for him - I never saw you punch him". That's the sort of proper refereeing you don't get any more. Ludo*1
Just seen that Jamie Beatson is raging that the Press Association 'took money out of my pocket' by reporting on the McGowan case today.

Are you also suggesting they don't believe that McCann is the right man to take us forward? Im stating that finishing 9th doesnt equate to a good season. srw
Despite the board allowing McCann to invest heavily in his own players, we managed to get 2 points more than Hartleys last season, bearing in mind that season was rightly regarded as a clusterfuck by just about everyone, its hardly great progress. Fans can think we play great football, but they are incredibly wrong IMO. McCanns football isnt Barceloneesque, more often than not its turgid. I think a significant number of fans have had enough, crap football, crap signings, dismal performances, expensive season tickets, ridiculous gate prices. Its just a perfect storm of indifference.
