What kind of injury has he got?

Knee injury. He's had problems with his knees before and I think he had surgery a few months back so hopefully that sorts him out once and for all.

IF true that Meekings has been at Dens the last 4 weeks either getting fit or proving his fitness at least prove's under McCann we are learning. Previously and even under PH we were dishing out long contracts to crocks. Young, Low and some will even say McPake after getting his bad injury examples. Still can't believe we gave Low a 3 year deal after a number of injuries at Aberdeen.

Exactly.

And to be fair to Meekings it must also mean he's keen to join - either that or he's totally fucked.

Perhaps Caley gave up on him fully recovering? They seemed to just ditch him as his exit was a bit of a footnote with the other releases. You would think they would have made an effort to keep him, even just to sell as there was clearly interest from a few clubs for their less shit players.

Him and Mcpake best of mates on the treatment table. Do we sign him and then he gets injured n that will be him? We def need another centre half. Surely we can do/get better ?

I can't see us having much left in the budget tbh and we know he's a decent enough centre half at this level. If we're going to get a better centre half in than Meekings then we need to move on a few players or we sign a unknown player from the back end of Europe.

We offered him a deal last year but he didn't want to sign it and wanted to keep his options open. Fast forward a few months and sadly he was injured, we were getting relegated and we couldn't afford to offer him the same deal again.

His release was announced by a journalist on Twitter which is how Meekings found out which was pretty shitty to say the least but we are specialising in off the filed cock ups just now. The club eventually announced his departure, barely any thanks for his services, and tried to temper it with a "if he hasn't signed with anyone and fancies coming back on a reduced wage we'll offer him a deal" which was nice(!) Why not just offer him a deal in the first place?

I'm not saying he is not decent enough however I do want a fully fit defender. Is that asking for to much ?

Any player can get injured.

Meekings would be an upgrade on what we have, I'd have him in in a heartbeat.
