Bump.

Preston host EK on Saturday.

Preston must draw to progress, and a win by 2 goals would see them top the section. EK is looking to draw, or not lose by more than 1 goal, to top the section. Stirling Uni are hoping for an EK win which would see them qualify.

Edinburgh Uni have already been eliminated, of course.

Seems to have finished Preston Athletic 2-2 East Kilbride, if so the Panners pip the students to qualification.

Central Section A

E Kilbride... P3.. 7pts, +4

Preston...... P3.. 4pts, +1

===========================

Stirling Un P3 4pts, -1

Edinburgh U.. P3.. 1pt, -4

So qualified clubs are now:

Gretna, Dalbeattie, Gala, EK, Preston, Spartans

+

Selkirk/Vale, BSCG/Ed City/Whitehill

HJ, if BSC v Whitehill ends in a draw, esp 1-1, who will go through to the knock-out stage?

If it ends 0-0, City by virtue of scoring more goals.

1-1 Tam, Newky & mvch to play stone, scissors or paper

2-2 toss of coin between BSC and Whitehill

we'll play stone, scissors, paper, lizard, Spock if you don't mind :smartass:geek

Spock denies the existence of a City goal at Lochburn.......

Just as long as you don't go running off and hide Tam ... ;)

0-0 is City (2F v 1F of BSC/City).

If head-to-head apply, 1-1 is Whitehill (2F v 1F of BSC/City in mutual games). Else 3-way tie.

2-2+ is BSC-Whitehill tie.

I heard a rumour at the Liverpool game last night that Spartans had been kicked oot of this. BSC and WW just play oot a Desmond and through we go?

Was just thinking the very same Newky. Cannae argue with home draws. Just the small matter of negotiating BSC first!

Was nae saying it for our behalf.

Just the fact potentially semis be same as groups.

Would've thought this could've been at least avoided ?

I dinnae think you could really for the last 4. I seem to remember Liverpool playing PSV in the Champions League group stages in 2006/07 and then again in the Quarters. You can keep teams apart in the first knockout round but then guess it gets messy.

Three of the of four group winners have been drawn away from home. Looks like it would have been better for us financially if we would have lost to Dalbeattie. The difference between having to fork out money for a bus and gaining income from the gate can be quite sizable.
