The Arbroath Thread

What's the furthest gone under DC in the cup? It's disappointing considering the start they made to the group, but if they finish 8th next year all will be well.

Two loan signings please. With the friendlies against Celtic of late, surely a Premiership club wouldn't be out of the asking

The resident idiot says we were “ok”

Today we were a shambles, especially in the middle of the park

You are the reason bullying should exist

If ppl just bullied u u wouldn't be as much of a bellend

Which would lead to less slagging behind your back

Cup competitions probably been the only real negative of Campbell’s time at Arbroath (Apart from maybe his mental comments in the press ).

2016/17
League Cup-Group Stage (1 point)
Challenge Cup-2nd Round (W 3-0 vs ICT 20s, L 3-2 AET vs EF)
Scottish Cup-3rd Round (W 3-1 vs Stirling Uni, L 5-0 vs Clyde) Shout for this being the worst result of his tenure?

2017/18
League Cup-Group Stage (4 points)
Challenge Cup-1st Round (L 2-0 vs DAFC)
Scottish Cup-4th Round (W 3-0 vs BRFC, L 4-1 vs Ayr)

2018/19
League Cup-Group Stage (8 points)
Challenge Cup-3rd Round (W 1-1 vs Elgin on Pens, W 3-0 vs Annan, L 4-1 vs Edinburgh)
Scottish Cup-3rd round (L 1-0 vs Stranraer)

Apparently we’ve signed lewis bell who played against dumbarton last year. Decent cover for full back or centre half from what i seen

Would take him. Similar to Wilson in that he’ll be on a low wage, content not to play every week and still young enough that he can improve. Didn’t play badly against Dumbarton in monsoon conditions. As mentioned by others, 2 forwards are an absolute necessity.

Where’s he been since playing at Dumbarton in that downpour?

The clubs who reach the last 16 of the competition receive £40,000 prize money, so we have missed out on that - which I am sure the club would have appreciated.

On Tues night at Easter Rd  Arbroath  lost a goal within 3 mins of kick and much the same happened today - Alloa equalised with 60 seconds and then when we scored our second goal, Alloa went back in front within 4 mins .............

Overall I thought Alloa edged it today and were  perhaps worthy of their win - their forwards were fast at breaking and took their opportunities.

Arbroath's key player for me was Bobby Linn  - he looked fit, sharp and up for it.

In recent years we have never had a good record against Alloa - hopefully that will change this season.

TBF the first goal at Easter road was offside and not consided after another team scored a goal totalling different thing.

Crazy to lose a goal within a minute, but should all remember that defence was a massive part of us going up.

Gaston better than Hill, Murphy looks to be better equipped than McCord, early signs that Stewart is better than Denholm.

We needed defensive cover in Wilson.

We just haven't replaced Wallace with any quality which will hopefully come as a loan or if Dick can pull a rabbit out the hat.

Kind of. Gaston an upgrade but DJ was brilliant last season so marginal squad improvement. Murphy younger and fitter but unproven. Stewart better than Denholm? The jury’s our. We needed defensive cover but I’m nervous about Wilson in the Championship. So yes, Wallace seems a big loss. Bring on the loans - soon.

You are better than Danny Denholm

Wallace left because dc stuck him on bench to justify his January signings. And dc will do the same this season play them again to justify spending money on them just saying like

Agree with the first part but not sure about the rest. DC will cut his losses pretty quickly if they don’t make a significant improvement.
I would be amazed if he didn’t significantly strengthen the attack in the near future.
If we get cut adrift early in this league, it will make for a long season.
