The Arbroath Thread

Recommended Posts

Way way too early for congratulations a lot of water to flow under the bridge yet if we're 13 points ahead come April we can start to celebrate but not early December.

Couldn't agree more. Realistically would only have to lose a couple of games in a row with a draw thrown in there and Raith could be 5 behind.

Congratulations on what has been a very impressive season so far from Arbroath. Thought you guys were a great side last season and have clearly strengthed further this time round.

Altho it's a long way to go that kind of lead at this point in the season is amazing! Hopefully you guys keep up the form and see it out then have a long stay in championship afterwards.

Aye and if Celtic lose every game from now until the end of the season they could be relegated, isn’t going to happen though.

Us losing 2 games and drawing 1 isn't some mental suggestion and Raith could easily win 3 in a row

If we could win next week, then I would say if we beat you the week after that was that but it could be 7 points again in just 2 weeks time

Game on 22nd is massive

Confident in the players and DC but there's 20 games to go, not even at the halfway stage. Probably need about 22 wins to win it so we've gave ourselves a bit of leeway

You’re 1.08 at the bookies or 1/12 in old money, think that tells you all you need to know.

About the same odds as Forfar were 3 years ago when 11 points clear in League Two at the end of February......

I think if we can go unbeaten against raith this season we’ll win the league but losing a couple of times to them will close the gap and give them the momentum and we’ll then start getting nervy towards the end of the season.

Said a few week ago on the Raith thread that my mate had put 100 dollars on you to win it, if you do he gets 700, if not then he's obviously hoping its us, seems like a decent idea. A wee £20 on you guys the now maybe...

Aye we all pull up a wee example like that, Did Gretna not nearly blow a huge lead from around Christmas time too? But 9/10 times these sorts of leads are unassailable and the team cruises to the title. Some of the Arbroath fans are more negative than the Rovers fans ffs [emoji23]

Exactly. Iv absolutely zero time for that. It’s almost like they want us to blow this lead so they can have a go. Those folk should stay away from the church of Gayfield every Saturday

Aye I'm sure everyone wants us to blow the lead, definitely...

As DC and IC say every single week, one game at a time and a long way to go

The last few weeks where the gaps went from 7 to 13 show you how quickly things can change and we'll not go through the rest of the season cruising it like we are now

By getting carried away thinking it's done and dusted you're only putting more pressure on us

Next 2 are really tough if we manage to get good results in both of them it would be huge

You can have faith in the team without blind faith.    Judging by the last few games except the cup setback, when we've ground out a results without being great - there's not a lot between the teams in this league, as the very small range of points between second and tenth show.     We have a nice cushion for now.    And we defer to Bobby's recent interviews on the matter - essentially, taking one game at a time.

By the way, anyone else noted theremarkably  similar record of the two still unbeaten teams in the senior leagues.  Arbroath and Liverpool.   They've scored fewer goals.   Our defence needs to tighten up

What you on about??? because some supporters don't believe the league is done and dusted by mid December we should all  stay away from Gayfield… grow up . Of course we want to win the league.

Come on man, the Raith games don’t matter to us as much as they do to them, we could lose all of our remaining games against Raith and still be top comfortably, it’s not arrogant to suggest the wheels would have to come off dramatically for us not to win the league, yes that’s possible, but it looks unlikely at this stage, and of course that would mean Raith’s form would have to improve also.

Raiths form isn't even bad, were just making it look that way by being so good. They're only 4 off of Ayr and Celtics totals who are top of their leagues and 7 off of Edinburgh City. The only team to have more points than us at this stage of the season was Rangers.

Our away form is awful. We've lost 3 of the last 4 away games and only won away from home 3 times this season.

We would still be behind, but the gap would be shorter.

For a club like Arbroath we are in an incredible position, we’ve had good times in the past under brownlie and sheerin (just going by my time of supporting the lichties) but some awful times too, most recently under lumsden so this is a bit of payback. Its never felt so good to be an arbroath supporter and see real team spirit amongst a talent bunch so lets just enjoy it [emoji226]&[emoji485][emoji1145]
