Gayfield
Tervetuloa takaisin (Welcome Back) Miko Virtanen! Everyone at Arbroath FC are absolutely ecstatic to announce that last year’s Young Player of the Year Miko Virtanen is rejoining the club on loan from Aberdeen. Miko will rejoin his Arbroath teammates from last season as he rejoins our team for the new Championship season. Miko’s performances last season for Arbroath caught the eye of everyone who watched him play and in turn Arbroath have fought off several clubs who were desperate to secure Miko on loan. Manager Dick Campbell couldn’t be happier to have Miko back with us and we know all our players are thrilled to have him return. Miko made his Arbroath debut against Dundee United at Tannadice coming on in the 63rd minute before making his first start for the club against Dundee at Den’s Park on the 5th September. Needless to say it didn’t take long for the Arbroath faithful to instantly take Miko in as his endless running and love of a tackle combined with his grit and determination seen him become a fan favourite. Only an international match for the Finnish U21 side kept Miko from having a constant run in the team as he made 18 starts in the league, with a further 2 from the bench and 3 starts in the William Hill Scottish Cup. Miko was a gentleman off the park and a pleasure to be around and we are delighted we get to spend time with him again. We would like to thank Derek McInnes and everyone at Aberdeen FC for again allowing Miko to return to Gayfield. Welcome back Miko! C’mon the Lichties! (My computer crashed just as it was time to announce, hence the wee delay)

SotesBornalichtie
Great to see that Miko is back with us and another season in the championship will do his development no harm. Aberdeen must feel much the same as he is guaranteed regular, competitive games for the season. Feeling much better about the season ahead with the new signings and Miko.

Leicesterlichtie
Great signing, pivotal part he played in the centre of the park last season. Still think another 3 central midfielders are needed....joking. Another option in defence & attack should about do, maybe another wide player if any decent ones around.

Gayfield
Michael Ruth Arbroath FC are thrilled to announce the signing of 18-year-old striker Michael Ruth who joins the club on loan from Aberdeen. Aberdeen fended off competition to sign Michael from Queen’s Park in June 2019, where he had been since the age of 9 as he progressed through the Queen’s Park Youth Academy. The Queen’s Park Youth Academy has produced a ray of talent in recent years including the likes of Andy Robertson and Lawrence Shankland. The young striker broke into the Queen’s Park side in 2018 making his debut on the 31st March 2018 at Hampden against Airdrieonians. He would go on to make 7 appearances in League Two and scored his first senior goal against Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill, whilst also having represented Scotland at U16 level. At Aberdeen he has been with the reserve side under the guidance of former Arbroath Manager Paul Sheerin which has developed some outstanding young players in recent times. Whilst the Development league was cut short, Michael's goals and performances during the season were acknowledged as he was voted Aberdeen’s Development Player of the Year for Season 2019/2020. Michael knows Don's team mate Miko Virtanen very well and will join his Arbroath team mates at training very soon. Michael has already been on the bench for Aberdeen this season in the Premiership and we are all looking forward to seeing him in action at Gayfield. We would like to again thank Derek McInnes and everyone at Aberdeen FC for the loan of another one of their very talented young players. Welcome to the club Michael! C'mon the Lichties
