The Arbroath Thread

Recommended Posts

Yes Clan Campbell together with a regenerated Board have certainly turned things around. After our Sheerin years recovery, it looked like we had drifted back into the wilderness years (80s and most of 90s).

One recent Campbell interview (can’t recall which one) mentioned they had long considered Arbroath somewhat of a ‘sleeping giant’ so they, with an enterprising Board have revived it. Bit of hyperbole but it was always strange that by far the largest town/support in Angus was often the lowest placed of all. It’s been an enjoyable trip these past few years with very occasional glimpses of sublime footy on display.

Still, fortunes can turn down as well as up as Lichties know all too well. It would be good to garner 6-7 points sooner than later to avoid a nervy end to a good season (if better then fine - a lovely notion that we might keep in contention with the pack above).

Couldn’t give a f**k what Campbell chooses to sing to be honest, most of our fans will have come away with far worse at the football themselves over the years.

Arbroath fan admits most Arbroath fans are sectarian. More to follow...

TOB, Little, Thomson and Hammy are the regular back 4. Whately and Gold can fill in there as well. I’m sure Craigan has played there in the past.

As has been said above.

DC has had a lot of success from signing versatile midfield players who can play at the back if required.

We should all be finding ways of helping the club financially during this unforeseen situation. Look at the journey they have brought us on this season.

How about the club started selling tickets for the remaining  home games now so they know they have the income . They could also add a value to each ticket to include a postponed match draw ( like the half time draw ). This could take place on the original match date.

Other suggestions welcome or do we accept the financial strain and the effect on next season.

No point in waiting for a new date to resume the season it could be far away. The club will need the money now.

Not everyone can afford to help the club out tho. People could be struggling with money for any number of reasons.

If people only spent what they normally would (without the benefit of seeing a game) then I imagine that wouldn’t be too much of a hardship.

Season ticket holders have already given their money in advance.

I would have expected around 500/600 of us to have paid at the gate tomorrow. My suggestion was merely to buy a ticket now for that match for whatever date it will be played on. Obviously the club would have to print tickets
