The Arbroath Thread

Finn Graham was again in the dugout on Tuesday with Arbroath gear on. Presume we are trying to negotiate a fee with Brechin beforehand, on the odd chance we get stung, although given he was only there for 2 (?) seasons it shouldn’t be much.

I like what Iv seen from Graham so far. Should be a good acquisition when eventually signed. Also heard good things about the 2 loan boys we are signing at the start of August

Wallace was good on Tuesday. He tormented the Alloa defence, linked play well, made and scored as good a goal as I've seen this season. He gets a lot of stick from opposition defenders because he shields and holds the ball so well. It's no surprise he starts every game.

It can be uncomfortable watching Wallace at times, because as soon as he messes up you know he’s getting pelters, god knows how he feels himself. Took real courage to take that 3rd penalty in the shoot out at Tannadice, fair play to him. Hope he can crack on, he got 8 goals for us second half of the season. 4 were pens, but 4 really good finishes for the other goals. Hope he can push on.

Swankie had this too first half of last year, as soon as he messed up some boys in crowd all over him. Walking on eggshells.

Hopefully Wallace can get a few goals at Gayfield before going into the league, don’t think he’s actually scored at home which maybe says a lot about how he feels when he’s playing for us. A bit cautious and worried instead of being relaxed and confident. Good goals away to Albion/Ayr/East Fife and Alloa, plus pens at Albion, Raith and Stranraer. Don’t think that’s a coincidence personally.

simon stevie d is a club legend and has earned the leeway he might get from the fans.

Unless players are literally no trying then I don’t think any fan should be getting on anyone’s back during the match. I’m pretty sure DC will let them players know if they’ve been playing shite without the help of the boys standing on the terracing. The players themselves will know when they’ve had a bad game.

Agree about Doris being a club legend though. A name that will go down in history. Will probably be the only player to ever win two titles with us.

So sad for Toshney if he played 45 minutes for us and is out long term injured again. Scott Martin still warming the subs bench for Hibs...
Its a shame. Hopefully thats not his career over with. But knee injuries are usually the hardest to recover fully from.

I still believe Scott Martin will feature for Hibs this season. Still a while to go in the transfer market so it may all depend on who goes and who they bring in. But he wont be coming to us if they do allow him to go on loan. A full time championship team will most likely be there prefered option

Dick said in the paper that it's 'absolutely crazy part time teams are being asked to play competitive games at the start of July' but the last time I checked the 14th, 17th, 21st and 24th are dates that fall in the middle and end of the month....

Thinking about that, maybe he just meant that competitive games shouldn't be played in July, particularly for part time teams who would probably prefer to use July for friendlies to have a look at trialists  and to see how new signings fit in the side. Fitting in players holiday arrangements may also plays a part, and starting competitive games in July makes for a long season without a winter break for part timers.

Finn Graham

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that midfielder Finn Graham has today signed for the club and will go straight in today’s squad to face Elgin City.

We are delighted to capture Finn’s signature as the 22-year-old midfielder has been in high demand over the summer after leaving Brechin City.

Finn has of course featured in our pre-season against Huntly and Dunfermline Athletic as well as traveling to watch the team against Dundee United and Alloa Athletic.

Finn started his professional career with Dunfermline Athletic where he came through the youth ranks before moving to Berwick Rangers for the 2015/2106 season where he made 38 appearances and scored 5 goals.

Finn then moved to Glebe Park making an impressive 42 appearances in his first season and scoring 2 goals along the way as Brechin won promotion to the Championship.  Last season Finn made 40 appearances for City in the Championship again scoring 2 goals.

With so much experience of League One and the Championship and at such a young age we are delighted to welcome Finn to Gayfield Park.

Welcome Finn!

C’mon the Lichties!

To avoid any confusion, Donald Dick could make a statement clarifying that when he said 'start' he meant 'end' :D
