Parscelona
So i was having a look to see who our next game was following the Stranraer match this weekend, working under the assumption that we would have a game next week, yet it turns out that the next set of league fixtures aren't until the 13th September. I assume that the given reason for this is that Scotland are taking on Germany next Sunday. However, can someone provide a logical explanation as to why a Scotland game, especially an away match prevents clubs (particularly those in the lower league) from playing their league fixtures next weekend? vikingTON
A: Because competent football clubs are actually playing their Petrofac Cup ties next weekend. Dunfermline aren't still in that cup because, well, they're shite. Close thread plz.

Poet of the Macabre
Wacky thing is, we're all playing on the Saturday when Scotland are at home later that day
Super cally
I personally think its crazy you should use up all saturdays if possible if its a bad winter we always have fixture congestion towards the end of the season

Shandon Par
Cancelling the fixture list for three ties (East Fife v Rangers cancelled for international players) to be played seems a bit excessive. You'd think that the league/clubs would want to do all they can to cash in on an early season buzz. Three weeks with no home fixtures for us doesn't exactly help the cash flow or do much to create any sort of excitement about the club or the league. Still, it means the spotlight of the footballing world can shine bright on ....... competent football clubs

Still, it means the spotlight of the footballing world can shine bright on ....... Except they haven't "cancelled the fixture list" - at no point was there ever going to be league fixtures on the first week of September; it has penciled in for the cup quarter-final for years, at the same time as the international period. Still; at least you're not bothered though.
GordieBoy80
Any competent football club doesn't give a hoot about that diddy cup.
Shandon Par
Still; at least you're not bothered though. The day started badly when I read about Tunnocks wading in to the Independence debate and I've been a bit tetchy ever since.
parsforlife
Its fine, we have a fife cup tie away to east fife, suppose we can join the list of competent football clubs as we are also playing a diddy cup tie.
